Creative stories from our signup page

You may have noticed that when you go to request an invitation to try our Preview edition, we ask that you tell us a story about why you need a web-based word-processor. There are many reasons for this apparently gratuitous step; for one thing, it helps us understand how people want to use our product.

On the other hand, at Buzzword we’re all about writing, and ennobling the entire authoring process, so we like to encourage the muse in everyone.

Some people write their story based on the facts – e.g. “I am a Technical Publications Manager who works remotely some 1700 miles from the home office. I am still searching for the ultimate collaborative documentation environment to perform peer reviews etc.”

Others seize the opportunity to unleash their creative muse. Consider the series of stories we received from Dan Morris:

Story One
I was born a poor sharecropper and can’t afford a desktop word processor so I need Buzzword.

Story Two
My daddy is an attorney and my mama is a doctor. I’ve gotten everything I’ve ever wanted. . . and now I want Buzzword!

Story Three
I work for a financially strapped non-profit that seeks to stop the senseless violence committed against the misunderstood cockroach. We can’t afford software so your free Buzzword will help save the beautiful cockroach from extinction and make the world a better place for all of us.

Story Four
I’m a rebel and I like “sticking it to the man”. Buzzword will help me show Google, Microsoft, Apple, and other monster corporations that they can’t run over the little guy. Help me change the world, give me Buzzword.

Thanks, Dan, for brightening our day. In fact, we’ve received many such creative narratives, and will post them here periodically for your viewing pleasure.
