The Buzzword team has delivered again - a mere six weeks after our last version, which appeared as part of the Acrobat.com launch in early June. We're very excited to be back in regular release cycles, and we have lots of great features planned (see Lisa's recent blog post for specifics).
This new release (our 10th in 14 months) has a few very important new capabilities, designed to broaden our appeal globally and to make it even easier to share documents.

Last week Adobe announced the availability of Adobe Reader 9. This new version of Reader has several exciting new features and capabilities. Steve Gottwals, product manager for Adobe Reader, did an extensive review of the new features of Reader 9 in his blog entry. From the Adobe website you can download a copy of Adobe Reader 9.0 now.
Adobe Reader 9 provides many simple ways to work with Acrobat.com. It includes the Acrobat.com desktop application built on the Adobe AIR technology. The Acrobat.com desktop application provides an easy way of interacting with Acrobat.com by dragging and dropping files and folders from your local computer directly into your Acrobat.com account, and browsing, previewing, sharing or publishing files directly from your desktop computer. The application can be minimized to a widget on your desktop providing one-click access to the Acrobat.com services.

We are incredibly excited about the path we've started down with today's beta launch of Acrobat.com. Our goal for the next few years is big but simple: we want to change the way the world works together on documents, for the better. We’ll keep you up to date on our thoughts and progress through frequent (and usually shorter ;-) postings to this blog.
Acrobat.com is a suite of online services hosted by Adobe that you can use to create documents together and share them with others. It helps people get document work done faster, without email attachments or version confusion, and it makes your documents look great so that you and your work look great, too.
We are starting with three distinctive applications:
- Adobe Buzzword for creating and reviewing documents together.
- Adobe ConnectNow for holding full-fledged online web conferences with up to three people.
- The Acrobat.com organizer for sharing 5GB of files with others online, including the ability to convert 5 documents to PDF and embed your documents in blogs, wikis or other web pages.
Please give them a try, get more efficient, and let us know what you think. You can sign up for free at www.acrobat.com.
Read on to learn more about our vision...

Early this morning the Buzzword team successfully migrated to a new hosting service. Although we hope and expect that the migration was invisible to all Buzzword users, you might have noticed a few changes.
First, we’ve moved to SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), a more secure protocol for communicating between your computer and our server. The only visible sign of this change is that our web address now begins with https, instead of plain old http.

It’s been a while since this blog has been graced with new content, but it doesn’t mean we’ve been off duty. The Buzzword team is plowing ahead with new functionality - some features just released in our latest version, which will be discussed below. We’re also working on some longer term functionality that will roll out over the course of the next several releases.
By the way, this is officially our seventh “Preview” release in nine months, so we’re staying on track for a release every 6 weeks or so. This is also our first official Adobe release - we’re looking forward to many more!

Hi, I’m Karen, also known as KT, the product manager for Brio.
Last week we launched a preview of the next generation of Adobe Acrobat Connect, codenamed "Brio.” Brio is web conferencing solution built with collaboration in mind. Whether it is ad-hoc collaboration with remote colleagues, a weekly team meeting, or a sales call, Brio gives you the tools you need to work together as if you were in the same room. And because Brio is built on Adobe's Flash platform, it operates inside most popular web browsers and operating systems. 'Nuff said. If you haven’t checked it out yet, give it a spin!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I want to thank all the people who have already signed up and provided feedback. It’s great to finally have the product available to the public and hear what you think! Please continue to use the product…and don’t forget to provide feedback and report bugs in the forums or by email at brio_beta@adobe.com.
Here’s what others are saying….
Robin Good says, "Kudos to Adobe for finally introducing a truly approachable SOHO solution...[which] not only integrates VoIP and teleconferencing facilities in Brio, but makes both of them free and accessible also from major European countries including the UK, Germany, France and more."
Luca Mezzalira says, “It’s more easy to use, main functions are available like icons and it’s so fast! ...you have a 'widget' to chat with others users, you can see other users...and you have a little control panel to manage [your room].Very cool!"
And if you are a developer you might be interested to know that Brio is built on the web services platform codenamed Cocomo. If you are interested in learning more about Cocomo, check out the Collaborative Methods blog.
Happy Holidays!

Things are moving apace in the world of Buzzword. First, it’s worth noting that we have a new domain name. Buzzword is now on its namesake domain - www.buzzword.com. Please update your bookmark, if you’ve set one.
In fact, you may have arrived at our old blog URL, but this blog can also be accessed via http://blog.buzzword.com. We have also moved our old company site, www.virtub.com, to http://about.buzzword.com.
And, as of yesterday morning, Buzzword itself has been updated. This is our sixth release in as many months; this latest version consists of a set of features almost exclusively requested by users - including word count, hyperlinks, and support for special characters.

We’re happy to report that our latest version, Preview 5, is now online. This version has lots of improvements, many of which aren’t immediately obvious - essentially, tightening things up to get us closer to a true version 1.0 word processor. Here’s a quick look at some of the visible changes in Preview 5.
