Configuring an Acrobat Installation in Adobe Creative Suite 2
Version 2.0 of the Adobe Creative Suite Pro— aka CS2— includes some terrific applications:
- Adobe InDesign
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe GoLive
- Adobe Acrobat
You can imagine that the installer for a big application like this would be quite complicated to write. To simplify things, the CS2 installer engineers did not expose everything in the CS2 installer that is available in the Acrobat installer.
Law firms occasionally ask how to disable certain parts of Acrobat, especially the PDFMakers. That's easy to do with the solo Acrobat install, but a bit hard to find for CS2 users.
For those of you with this issue, here is the workaround.
Removing Acrobat PDF Makers in a CS2 Installation
Here are the steps to remove PDF Makers from CS2 installation:
- If CS2 was installed to the default path, run
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat 7.0\Setup Files\AcroPro\ENU\AcroPro.msi —Acrobat7.0 installer. - Select Modify—>Create Adobe PDF feature and disable either all PDF makers or any specific ones.
- Click on Update button
All chosen PDF Makers will be removed from the system.
If needed PDF Makers can be added using the same steps.
