Watch the Acrobat-SharePoint Integration eSeminar

Many of our customers have either deployed or are interested in deploying Microsoft SharePoint.

Today, my colleague Mark Middleton and did a 1-hour SharePoint eSeminar. Our Partner OmTool also participated; they offer the free Swiftwriter plug-in for Acrobat that provides check-in/out from SharePoint.

If you are not very familiar with SharePoint, it’s hard to describe this popular Microsoft product in a sentence. SharePoint may be used as a web portal, an enterprise search engine, as a collaboration tool, for content management and more.

You probably want to get the most you can from SharePoint in your organization. Since PDFs are one of the most frequently encountered document types in enterprises, Adobe is interested in SharePoint, too.

Creating Electronic Closing Binders using Acrobat 9

Traditionally, at the end of a transaction such as a real estate closing, we would present our client with a binder stuffed full of all of the documents associated with the deal. These “old school” binders were time-consuming to create and costly to distribute. Creating an electronic closing binder in PDF is a far “greener” alternative that saves time and enhances client satisfaction.

I recently delivered a 1-hour eSeminar on Closing Binders which was well-received. Check it out!

In the one hour event, I showed how to create two kinds of closing binders; 1) PDF Binders and, 2) PDF Portfolios

I also created a 36-page guide Creating Electronic Closing Binders using Acrobat 9. This document should give you everything you need to create great closing binders.

Read on for a TOC and download instructions.

PDF Portfolios for Case Analysis: Part 1

June 16, 2009 Note: I've made several changes to this post including an updated Case Analysis Portfolio template.

Case Analysis is the process of reviewing documents associated with a case and making decisions about them. For example, you might use Acrobat to help you find:

  • Documents containing your clients name
  • Documents which relate to a specific issue
  • Documents which are privileged

A PDF Portfolio is a single PDF document which contains other documents. By keeping the documents together in a PDF Portfolio, we can accelerate document review.

In this article series, I'll discuss how to use Acrobat 9 and a PDF Portfolio for Case Analysis.

For some background on PDF Portfolios, click here to view a demo movie.

In this article, you will open a Case Analysis Portfolio and customize it for your case. In Part 2, we will load documents and start to code and work with documents. In Part 3, you will learn how to export a PDF Portfolio to a spreadsheet file.
