The “Repair Adobe Installation” trick worked for me. Printing now from 8.1.2.

Printing not working – just re-associate your pdf files under file types , lets adobe re-install itself and it should work…

Acroread on Solaris 10 x86? Simply install a Linux distro inside a Solaris container (zone) then you can run a recent acroread version in the Linux container and direct it to the Solaris display. OK, so it uses some extra disk space and creates a few extra processes, but it solves the problem. See the following URL for more details:-

I solved the problem “Unable to start print job – Is printer available” on my kubuntu hardy installing the package cupsys-bsd.
On my system that problem came with lack of lpr command.

After downloading Adobe Reader 8.1.2, I can’t print any .pdf files. The message says “Unable to start print job – Is printer available”

I have been trying to find solution for a week.

Please release a new version of Acrobat Reader for Solaris 10 x86, the version v4.05 which is installed on my computer was downloaded March 2000 and worked with Solaris 2.6 x86, 7 x86, 8 x86, 9 x86 and 10 x86 (32 and 64bit) on three different computers.
