Adobe Reader now available via Yum!
We're pleased to announce the launch of the Yum repository for Adobe Reader on Linux!! Now you can install or update to the latest version of the Linux Reader using yum which will take care of all the download and installation automatically. All language versions of the Linux Reader are available in the repository.
How to install or update Adobe Reader via Yum?
- Do `yum check-update | grep AdobeReader` (in case of update)
- Download and install the Adobe Release RPM (one-time step only)
- Run the Yum command with the Adobe Reader for your language, as follows:
For first time installations:
yum install AdobeReader_enu (for English)
yum install AdobeReader_jpn (for Japanese) etc.
For updates:
yum update AdobeReader_enu (for English) (or the package name returned from Step 1)
That's it! For more information on using Yum for installation, updating or removing a software, refer this site, or the Fedora Software Management Guide.

Thank you so much! I've been wanting this ever since you put Flash into a yum repository :D. Now, when can we expect a 64-bit and/or PPC Flash plugin for Linux ;) :p.

Bravo, Adobe! Got the new 8.1.2 Acrobat Reader with yum updates on 2-13-2008. Fedora 7, x86. Works good (menu icon missing, though - no big deal, I fixed it on my box).
Thanx and Regards,
VJS

Everyone else has said it, but I'll say it too. Thank you very much. My users will really appreciate this, as well as myself.

Please Help.
I'm new to linux & yum
I went to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=10&platform=unix
and downloaded :AdobeReader_enu-8.1.2-1.i486.rpm
then issued
>yum install AdobeReader_enu-8.1.2-1.i486.rpm
but i got
Package AdobeReader_enu-8.1.2-1.i486.rpm is not signed
so I followed the link above and downloaded :
adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm
>yum install adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm
but it got:
warning: rpmts_HdrFromFdno: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID f6777c67
Public key for adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm is not installed
Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?
Thanks!

really cool app. shame it's only available for the clunky old rpm format. time to step into the 20th century...heh.
cool, tho.

Thanks Adobe for providing Linux support. Since 3 of my 5 boxes now have x86_64 processors, I'd liked to see Adobe support for x86_64

Thanks a lot! For me, the strange thing is: I can start acroreader 8.1.3 from the start menu of GNOME of Fedora Core 8, or from a terminal only when I am root. As a normal user, I can only start the acroread from the start menu. Cannot run acroread from a terminal. Don't know why. Anyone have idea about this?:-))

I'd like to see this option added to the list at
http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions
so people don't have to search for it!
And I'll join the "thanks!" group.

I am running a recent Ubuntu, I tried "rpm --install adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm" but got "error: Failed dependencies: /bin/sh is needed by adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch" although it has /bin/sh. Are there step-by-step instructions for Ubuntu?
