Adobe is pleased to announce the 2014 Adobe Design Achievement Awards Semifinalists for Session I! Running for fourteen consecutive years, the ADAA global contest continues to receive thousands of quality submissions every year, maintaining its reputation for recognizing the best creative work of student designers, photographers, animators, and digital filmmakers.

Talented students from around the world are invited to submit their work, hoping to achieve Semifinalist status, or better.  There were 363 Session I Semifinalist entries selected, from 1066 submitted entries.  The first session of Semifinalists hail from twenty countries, including Indonesia, India, New Zealand, Great Britain, Scotland, France, Germany, Italy, China, South Korea, Poland, Spain, Brazil, and Mexico.

Semifinalist entries will be judged in New York City during two intense hands-on judging days, August 11 and 12, at the Adobe corporate offices. Finalists will be announced in September. Grand Prize winners, and winners of each of the eleven categories, will be announced at Adobe MAX, in the Community Pavilion, October 4 – 8 in Los Angeles, California.

The semifinalist judging panel is comprised of 23 professional designers, artists, and animators, contributing to a variety of artistic disciplines. The selection panelists represent eight different countries, including Mexico, Canada, the US, the UK, Israel and Germany.

There is still time for higher education students to get their work in front of the the judging panel. Session II of the ADAA contest is open. International students are invited to submit their work for consideration, during this extended call-for-entries period.

Higher education students are encouraged to continue to submit their work until June 20. Students who’ve already achieved semifinalist status may continue to submit more entries. Every participant is eligible to submit up to three entries per category, or a total of thirty-three entries during the duration of the annual contest.

The Adobe Design Achievement Awards Commitment to Globally Elevating Student Work

The Adobe Design Achievement Awards offers higher education students an opportunity to gain global recognition for their creative work.

The ADAA seeks to elevate students for their creative achievements, through tiered levels of recognition and participation. By providing a platform rich in levels of recognition, more students are included, empowered, and able to gain valuable visibility for their work on a global scale.

Layers of Recognition: Currently, students who achieve Semifinalist status in the contest are featured on ADAA Live, and receive a digital ADAA certificate to add to their professional profile. Honorable Mention recipients receive a digital ADAA certificate, and are featured on the ADAA Gallery Honorable Mention List. Finalists and winners receive an ADAA certificate, and are featured on the ADAA Gallery, with a unique URL to their biography, as well as contest prizes.

Every participating student is a valuable member of the ADAA community. The ADAA can be a powerful platform for students to scale their level of recognition, as their skills and creative understandings develop during their education. Students can submit multiple times, to find themselves reaching new heights of recognition through the contest.”

And now, the ADAA has announced two new ways in which students can garner visibility for their work. For the first time in the history of the ADAA contest, every participant is able to view their work on ADAA Live. Participants who complete their profile and submission process, will have three thumbnails posted of their work. Each student is able to see their name, institution, design discipline, and example of their work included on the website.

 

Mathias Vogel, Creative Director and Co-founder of LABOR, the design firm in Germany which has been instrumental in the creative identity of the ADAA for five years, designed the ADAA Live tool. Vogel commented, “The ADAA Live tool allows for students, friends, and professors, to search for creative work by title, country, institution, and participant. We feel it is important for members of the ADAA community to gain a real sense of one another. Providing headshots and visual thumbnails for each participant, empowers the community to watch itself grow and evolve in real time.”

ADAA Student Supporters are able to gain recognition for their creative work.

ADAA Student Supporters: Another way, in which students can achieve more visibility for their work, is to participate as ADAA Student Supporters. Supporters are invited to contribute to the ADAA team as a sounding voice on their campus, encouraging fellow students to enter into the contest. Students are encouraged to apply to participate, adding job skills to their résumé or CV.

 

Students gain visibility: Student Supporters who garner 40 or more ADAA submissions from their institution receive a certificate, acknowledging their dedication to encouraging fellow students to creatively break through. These dynamic Student Supporters are featured on the ADAA website, along with their biography and a link to their online portfolio.

Applications for ADAA Student Supporters are being accepted until June 1, 2014.
