Round up of Adobe HTML5 resources

As most of you are probably aware by now, Adobe made some exciting announcements today during the Google I/O keynote pertaining to the immediate availability of the Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 HTML5 Pack extension. This extension provides initial support for HTML5 and CSS3 in Adobe Dreamweaver CS5, and helps you easily create HTML5 pages and CSS3 styles.

Below is a brief list of resources that launched in support of this announcement:

You can download the extension from Adobe Labs.

Adobe Cookbooks silent auction – recipe contributions

With all the recent software releases (Creative Suite 5, Flash Builder 4, Flex 4 SDK, ColdFusion Builder) it felt like it was time for the Adobe Developer Connection to sponsor another Adobe Cookbooks silent auction for Cookbook recipe contributions. You may be wondering what exactly a silent auction is? It is where individuals submit private bids on a specific item. Then at the end of the bidding period, the person with the highest bid takes home the item.

Traditionally, bids in silent auctions are made in dollars. However, for the Cookbooks silent auction, bids will be made in recipes (how many recipes you are willing to contribute.) With the ground rules laid, the question is, how many cookbook recipes are you willing to contribute to the Adobe Cookbooks to get this snazzy ADC branded Timbuk2 bag? Wait, don’t answer that yet.

How many cookbook recipes would you be willing to contribute if that bag was also full of assorted Adobe goodies? Wait, don’t answer that yet.

How many cookbook recipes would you be willing to contribute if that bag was also full of assorted Adobe goodies and also included a copy of software?

OK, now you can answer. For those interested in bidding, you can send your bid directly to me. What should be included in your bid?

• How many recipes you are bidding
• What product(s) your recipes will cover
• Length of time you think you’ll need to contribute your recipes

Depending on how things go, I may accept several bids; one for Flex recipes, one for Flash recipes, one for Dreamweaver recipes, etc…the only caveat is that recipes should be focused on the most current version of the product.

As an added incentive, any recipes that are truly outstanding will get featured in the Adobe Developer Connection.

I’ll be accepting bids through the end of next next week, at which point I will contact the individual(s) who submitted the winning (highest) bids. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to drop me a line.

If you are unsure what a cookbook recipe is, take a look at our sample recipe.

And remember, you don’t have to wait for special contests or promotions to contribute your code recipes to the Adobe Cookbooks…we accept recipe contributions all year round!

Happy bidding and happy coding!
