The Adobe Singapore office grew almost 40% in staff strength, reaching close to 90 employees in 2011. To ensure we maintain a close-knit environment, a local office committee called Engaged@Work has been busy bringing the team together through various office events, ranging from an Adobe Singapore version of the Amazing Race to a bowling competition. This June, the Adobe Singapore team embarked on teambuilding efforts with a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) flavor.
Engaged@Work identified “Groceries on Wheels” as a sustainable, long-term project that would enable the Adobe Singapore team to contribute to the local community and at the same time build teamwork outside of regular business hours. “Groceries on Wheels” is an annual event organized by the National University of Singapore Society (NUSS) with the aim of delivering groceries to identified needy households. This year, “Groceries on Wheels” reaches the North-West District of Singapore where a total of 2,127 households were identified as households that will most appreciate a helping hand with their daily groceries. This translates to a total of SGD 42,540 that needed to be raised by various bodies. The Adobe Singapore team “adopted” 110 households and set a target to raise SGD 2,200 in a month.
We divided the employees in our Singapore office into teams of 10 individuals, such that the teams competed amongst themselves in order to claim the title of being the biggest Fund Raiser. This added a competitive element to the fun and charity work we had in store. Teams then set out to raise funds through different means, which included…
to serving delicacies that would tantalize the most discerning taste buds
Alongside the competition and fun, we uncovered several Chefs, Master Bakers, Chief Masseurs and Creative Designers.
“Charitable and generous are words that sum up the colleagues we have in our Singapore team,” said YL Lim, Senior Regional Compliance Manager, Asia Pacific & Japan. “It’s heartening to see all employees, regardless of rank and gender, chipping in to contribute their time and effort. Most surprising were the number of world-class chefs discovered among our Singapore employees. I have to admit I was extremely well-fed in Jun with the weekly culinary offerings!”
Through the various creative fund raising activities, the Adobe Singapore team did not only meet the target, but finished at over 200% of plan with more than SGD 4,600 raised in a month. Way to go Adobe Singapore as we strive to do more for our community!
