Eager to engage with enthusiastic youth, Adobe again seized the opportunity to participate in the Hamburg Talent Day for Media & IT, an annual career event designed to introduce youths to careers in the IT and media industry. This year, we saw more than 70 companies participate in the event and Adobe’s Hamburg office hosted more than 40 tech students aged 16 to 19 who were keen to hear more about Adobe’s business.
Excited looks and many questions followed the introduction to Adobe’s vision around Digital Media and Digital Marketing. The interactive session resembled a mini career-advice workshop during which the Adobe team provided students with practical career tips on what it’ll take to begin a career at Adobe.
We also lined up a panel of Adobe employees from five different functions to share their experiences about what it’s like to work at Adobe and how each of them got to where they were today. Matthias S. (Project Lead, Shared Cloud), Nicole M. (HR Manager), Fabian P. (Group Program Manager), Heike H. (Talent Partner) and Till S. (Associate Account Manager) shared their career journeys, challenges experienced and emphasized that there was not only one way to success.
Matthias on the Shared Cloud team mentioned that he began coding even when he was in high school and was never too keen on the prospect of a 40 hour work week. However, this quickly changed when he found his passion as a Developer at Adobe and is now leading a project. Till was another employee who shared his story. He joined Efficient Frontier—-a company that was acquired by Adobe–as an Intern in Germany, then left for its London office to write his final thesis before landing his job as Associate Account Manager at Adobe Germany following the acquisition of Efficient Frontier.
The event concluded with a sneak-peek behind the usually closed doors of Adobe Hamburg’s campus. All in all, it was an inspiring day for many of these students and we look forward to hosting the 2013 Hamburg Talent Day for Media & IT.
