Today, Adobe Life sits down with Chris H. from the Inside Sales Digital Media team. Chris has been with Adobe for 18 months and has stood out as someone who lives and breathes creativity. He shares with us what its like to work at Adobe and his passion for photography and guitar building.
Adobe Life:What do you love about Adobe and what do you love most about your role?
Chris: First and foremost, the Adobe culture is something that’s unique; it’s something that really struck me in my first few months here. I love the support and encouragement I receive from our management team, from my direct line manager right through to the executive team. Adobe has a great open door policy and you can always see senior leaders engaging with the different teams.
My favorite part of the role is speaking with our customers and working with them, and our wider team, to solve problems and to assist them with our products.
Adobe Life: Tell us about your team at Adobe.
Chris: I feel very lucky to have landed a role with the Inside Sales team. Every single person is a killer when it comes to sales and also a lot of fun to be around. Going to work with such a driven team is really motivating. I have also learnt a great deal in my time here. There is a real feeling of camaraderie and we all work together to reach our goals. I always feel like we are part of something bigger. Adobe has such a presence in the market and continues to be a leader in our field. I feel proud to be part of that.
Adobe Life: Here at Adobe we live and breathe creativity, how do you find your creativity? What inspires you?
Chris: I am in love with photography and I am always trying to improve my skills. At Adobe, I have been able to integrate this with my work life. I often get to shoot some of our key events and set up sessions for social media head shots for the wider team. I feel grateful that I am able to practice my passion at work and use our amazing products to produce great work. My other creative passion is music. I have played the guitar for nearly 30 years and find it to be a great outlet.
Adobe Life: If there is one piece of advice you can give to individuals considering a career at Adobe, what would that be?
Chris: My advice would be “don’t hesitate” if you have a chance to work at Adobe. You’ll be surrounded by passionate colleagues. I find that when you surround yourself with highly motivated people, it helps you to achieve loftier goals. Also, the team knows how to have fun. We often have great team building events that helps bring us closer as a group.
Adobe Life:What is something you love to do outside of work that we don’t know about you?
Chris: I do a lot of stuff outside of work and some of my passions include motorbike racing, go-karting, guitar building, photography and surfing, Building a guitar from scratch is a difficult undertaking. I had to teach myself how to inlay, carve, machine and paint at a high level as I’m a bit of a perfectionist. One of the things that surprised me when I first started was how much I enjoyed building all the jigs required to carve a three-dimensional shape with precision out of wood. It is really an exercise in problem solving. For almost a year, I spent most weekends in my workshop trying to complete my first two guitars.
