Adobe Presenter installation via eLS2.0 on a machine having a fresh install of Office 2010

Problem Area:  Adobe Presenter 7 does not gets installed when you try to install the same via eLS2.0 on a machine which has a fresh installation of Office 2010

Please note that if you have upgraded to Office 2010 and then you try to install Presenter 7 via eLS2.0, then it should get installed successfully. Problem happens only if Office 2010 installation is a fresh one

Workaround: Follow the following steps for installing Adobe Presenter 7 via eLS2.0 on a machine having a fresh installation of Office 2010

1)      Download the Office2010_eLS2.zip file to your system

2)      Rename the same to Office2010_eLS2.reg

3)      Double click the Office2010_eLS2.reg file

4)      On being prompted with a message “Are you sure you want to add the information in Office2010_eLS2.reg to the registry”. Click ‘Yes’.

5)      Run the eLS2.0 installer again and choose to install Adobe Presenter 7

Adobe Presenter 7 should get installed

Thanks, Vishesh. Am I right if this is still limited to Office 2010 – 32 bit or will it work on 64-bit too?

Yes you are correct Lieve, Presenter is supported only on a 32 bit Office and not on 64 bit

I tried this patch and I still do not have Presenter showing up in Office 2010… Any other options? It is a new install..

George, Are you using the 32 bit version of Office? 64 bit is not supported.

  • http://www.adobe.com Vishesh

    Hi George,
Can you please check if it shows in Add/Remove programs. If it does, kindly check if the Presenter plugin has been disabled by Office 2010

  • George Pesansky

I am using the 32-Bit version of office, trying to install from els2 discs on a fresh install of 2010 on windows 7. I do not see presenter in the add/remove programs or as an add-in in powerpoint. Have tried to install 3x after this patch and multiple restarts.. Any help will be greatly appreciated…

George – just to clarify, did you download the zip / reg file from the link in the article above? When you renamed the file, did it change the file type to reg? Did you get the Are you sure message?

I am having the same problem. I tried many times to download the office2010_els2.zip file but got a file of 248 kb in the download box but 1kb in size in the containing folder. when I rename the file to .reg and double click on it, I get the message ‘error: the archive is either in unknown format or damaged”. Any help??
I am using Win 7, 64 bit and fresh installed power point 32 bit.

  • George Pesansky

Yes, it actually asks multiple times and completes with a message indicating the values were added to the registry..

Just wanted to add a comment. I installed els2 on two different machines both running win7 with Office 2010 installed. Neither of them showed Presenter 7 in add/remove. I ran the download above then the install.exe again. Presenter 7 was then available to install. It appears to now be in my c/adobe/presenter 7 folder. When I run powerpoint 2010 it is not available. Just lovely….any work around yet?

Tom, send a note to wish-captivate@macromedia.com letting them know of the problem. They’ll guide you through the install.

Hi Tom, Can you check if you are running a 32 bit version of Office, or a 64 bit version? Presenter will only install on a 32 bit version of Office. Also, if you have Office 2010 on your system, ensure that you do not have any other earlier versions of Office.

Another possibility, since you say it is installed on the harddisk, but is not available when you run PowerPoint, will be to check if Presenter has gone into the disabled add-ins tab in Office.
    Regards,
    Shameer

The latest version of Presenter is installed on my machine and it was working with Powerpoint 2010. Today it crashed out while I was publishing a presentation in the same way as the old version. The program is still on my machine but when I open it the presenter tools are not present, it’s just plain old powerpoint. Iam running XP SP3.
