Adding Videos to the Sidebar in Your Adobe Presenter Courses

It’s always a good idea to add audio to your courses in the form of voice over. It saves the learners from reading a lot of onscreen text, and helps you in effectively using the screen real estate to graphically represent the concepts.

If you want to go a step further, videos are an ideal solution here. You can hear as well as see the trainer/coach. But again, some part of the screen area has to be assigned for the coach video. It’s easier to do so for some of the screens, but if the screens are overcrowded with graphical assets, it becomes difficult to accommodate the coach video in the course.

In such cases, sidebar is a great place to add coach videos. The learners can see the slides in the main screen area and the video in the sidebar.

It’s pretty easy to record/import a video to the sidebar in Adobe Presenter courses. Here are the steps:

Recording a video:

  1. Navigate to the slide where you want to add the video.
  2. Click Adobe Presenter.
  3. In the Video section, click Capture.
  4. The Adobe Presenter – Capture Video dialog appears.
  5. Verify that the correct slide is appearing in the Attach to list. If not, select the correct slide.
  6. In the Attach As list, select Sidebar video.
  7. Select the Video Device.
  8. Select the Quality and Size of video.
  9. Select the Audio Device and Quality.
  10. For advanced video and audio settings, click the button next to Video Devices and Audio Devices.
  11. Click the Record button and start recording the video.
  12. When finished, click the Stop button.
  13. Click OK and your video is recorded and added to the sidebar.

Importing a video:

  1. Navigate to the slide where you want to add the video.
  2. Click Adobe Presenter.
  3. In the Video section, click Import.
  4. In the Adobe Presenter – Import Video dialog, navigate to the video file.
  5. Verify that the correct slide is appearing in the Import on list. If not, select the correct slide.
  6. In the Import as options, select Sidebar video.
  7. Click Open and the video will be added to the sidebar.
