The principles of eLearning (cognitive theory of multimedia design)

I did a ten part series on the principles of eLearning as defined by researchers including Clark and Mayer and based largely on the cognitive theory of multimedia. The How & Why of iPads, HTML5 & Mobile Devices in eLearning, Training & Education

I’ve been itching to write some about the proliferation of mobile devices in the wake of Tablet computers like the Apple iPad, the Samsung Galaxy, the Blackberry Playbook and a myriad of others for quite a while. Much of what I’ve read is very technical and always seems a little heavy on hype and light on practical solutions for eLearning. Make ‘em Laugh: Is Comedy Appropriate in eLearning?

After you’ve been creating eLearning for a while you’ll no doubt begin to find humor, or the potential for humor in the content that you develop. Don’t forget to finish that module – Please bring your work or materials to our next session – Big test coming up. Sometimes these things are something you can schedule in advance because you know the calendar, and sometimes these things are last minute reminders. So whether you need to tell everyone in the company that the workplace safety compliance module must be Continue reading…

Is There Room for Common Sense in eLearning? How about in business processes?

Is there room for common sense in modern business and eLearning. Radical thinker and eLearning Rebel*, Cathy Moore started our morning this morning with a heretical tweet;
