Adobe Presenter EULA issues

New installations of Adobe Presenter on certain systems have been unusable as users have been unable to accept the End User License Agreement (EULA) which is launched at the first use of Presenter from inside MS PowerPoint, but flashes and closes automatically before it can be accepted.  The issue has been identified to be an incompatibility of the EULA with IE9. A resolution for this issue is provided in an upcoming patch.

As a workaround, you can use either of these options:

Option 1.

Uninstall IE9, accept the EULA and then reinstall IE9 if required

Option 2.

  1. Go to your Adobe Presenter install directory and navigate to: \adobe_epic\eula; For ex. > C:\Program Files\Adobe\Presenter 7\adobe_epic\eula\
  2. Create a folder with name ‘undefined’ ; C:\Program Files\Adobe\Presenter 7\adobe_epic\eula\undefined;
  3. Now go to the folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Presenter 7\adobe_epic\eula\en_us and copy the html files
  4. Paste the files to the new folder (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Presenter 7\adobe_epic\eula\undefined) created in ’2′ above
  5. Relaunch PowerPoint and access Presenter. You should now be able to view and accept (or reject) the EULA.

Option 3.

  1. go to your Presenter installation folder, eg. C:\Program Files\Adobe\Presenter 7\adobe_epic\
  2. Rename the folder titled ‘eula’ to ‘backup-eula’
  3. Download the EULA.zip from EULA (or copy-paste this link into your browser –  http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/files/2011/06/eula1.zip)
  4. Unzip the downloaded zip file to any folder
  5. Go inside the unzipped folder and copy the folder titled ‘eula’
  6. Paste it to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Presenter 7\adobe_epic\
  7. Relaunch PowerPoint and access Presenter. You should now be able to view and accept (or reject) the EULA.

Adobe Presenter installation issues on 64 bit Operating Systems

Many users attempting to install the Adobe Presenter 7 patches on 64 bit version of windows 7 (and in some cases Vista) with Microsoft Office 2010, have observed installation failures that indicates that Presenter is unable to detect PowerPoint. This issue has been addressed in an upcoming patch. The workaround is to create this entry in the registry manually before installing Presenter. To do this, please follow the steps as under:

1. Open the registry (start > run> regedit)
2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>wow6432Node>Microsoft>Office>12.0 OR 14.0>PowerPoint;

NOTE: you will not find PowerPoint at this path if the version installed is 64 bit; for Adobe Presenter, you need to install 32 bit MS PowerPoint.

3. Go to ‘InstallRoot’
4. Right click > new > String Value

5. Rename ‘New Value #1′ to ‘Path’

6. Double click on ‘Path’ and enter the path of MS PowerPoint on your system, eg: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\

You should now be able to install Presenter. See this Captivate movie

Synchronizing Audio and Animation Timings with Adobe Presenter 7

Adobe Presenter is a great tool for creating Flash-based eLearning courses from within Microsoft PowerPoint. You can add animation effects and SWF files along with narration, quizzes, and simulations to transform the drab presentations into interactive multimedia experiences.

If you already have PowerPoint animations, such as flying or dissolving text and images, Presenter converts them seamlessly and displays them in the final presentation exactly as they appear in PowerPoint.

You can even synchronize the narration with animation timings. For example, Continue reading…

MS PowerPoint 2010 support in Adobe Presenter

The Adobe Presenter installer needs a compatible version of MS PowerPoint for installation, and previously this prevented Presenter installation on machines with MS Office 2010. The Adobe Presenter installer has now been updated to enable installation on a computer having MS PowerPoint 2010. This compatibility is limited to the installation of English, French, German and Japanese versions of Adobe Presenter only. You can download this Presenter version from the Adobe Presenter homepage (click on the download link)

For using Adobe Presenter with PowerPoint 2010, after installing Presenter, please apply all the updates till Adobe Presenter 7.0.6. Adobe Presenter updates are sequential and must be applied one after the other. The updates can either be applied by using updates interface available in the help menu or by downloading them from Adobe Presenter support website

Please note that customers who have an existing Presenter installation can install the Presenter 7.0.6 patch directly via Adobe Update Manager (Presenter> Help), or by downloading it from Adobe Presenter support website.

With this patch we’ve also addressed some key PPTX compatibility bugs, like the text overflow.
