I don’t usually talk about buying and selling our eLearning products. I suppose to some this might seem strange. After all, I do work for Adobe and we do make some amazing software. When asked about it I’ll usually say, “I just show how the software works and talk about eLearning, the products pretty much sell themselves.” And honestly, that’s true. The teams continue to improve the products so quickly that I’m almost always able to say “Yes, we can do that.”
So why a post about subscriptions. Well today is a very special day. It’s a day of a promise fulfilled. Today, subscription, Adobe Software Assurance (ASA) and other customers who have various forms of subscription agreements will get early access to Adobe Captivate features in Continue reading…
By now you must have realized that I love reading books, especially if they are related to eLearning, Instructional Design, mLearning, or Captivate. This time I picked up books authored by Kevin Siegel, who is a fantastic trainer and a fabulous person with a great sense of humor.

There’s absolutely no dull moment in his class and I really admire him for that! So, my self-assigned task while reading these books was to gauge if his books were as engaging and effective as his training sessions are!
The mission started with Continue reading…

eLearning Characters make Great Presenters
In my last guest post, I talked about how you can use characters as eLearning avatars or guides in your eLearning courses. In addition to using characters as avatars, you can also use characters as presenters. For example, you could use a presenter as:
- A teacher in front of a blackboard
- A news anchor with a TV behind him
- An employee with a clipboard (or in front of a whiteboard or on a stage) Continue reading…
There is a fundamental problem that exists in the typical business workplace today. Chances are that you or someone in your office is already painfully aware of it. We’ve seen an explosion in the number of people whose jobs are directly related to their expertise, and for whom ‘what they know’ has become a kind of ‘insurance’ plan.
Have you ever heard a colleague proclaim “If I’m the only one who knows how to do this, ‘they’ can never fire me.” We’ve all heard similar comments and perhaps even nodded along, or said the words ourselves. But what is the actual cost of this kind of environment of knowledge hoarding. Research in fact suggests that it cuts much Continue reading…
