By now you must have realized that I love reading books, especially if they are related to eLearning, Instructional Design, mLearning, or Captivate. This time I picked up books authored by Kevin Siegel, who is a fantastic trainer and a fabulous person with a great sense of humor.
I’ve attended some of his face-to-face and online trainings in the past and he has a magic mantra of keeping the audience engaged in the class throughout the session. There’s absolutely no dull moment in his class and I really admire him for that! So, my self-assigned task while reading these books was to gauge if his books were as engaging and effective as his training sessions are!

Topic: Making of the Best Soft Skills eLearning Course!
Description: Join Dr. Pooja Jaisingh, eLearning DemoFest 2012 winner for Best Soft Skills Course, as she shares the secrets of creating an award-winning scenario-based course. She will be taking you through the entire journey of creating the Captivate Customer Service Team Training course from content acquisition, analysis, storyboarding, graphic design, audio recording and editing, to course integration.
I demonstrated this project at the eLearning DemoFest 2012 event, where a variety of solutions for day-to-day eLearning challenges including tools, technologies, and processes are showcased. And the good news is that this course won the Best Soft Skills Course award.
For DemoFest, I used the same course that I’ve shared with you in this blog series, made some cosmetic changes to it along with adding a lightbox-style menu and used some canned interactions to create the Top Issues and New Features pop-ups. I’ll share a few short tutorials on how to create these interactions in a couple of days on the Captivate Tutorials page. Stay tuned!
For now, let’s take a look at this new and improved course: Continue reading…
