MAX 2009 Follow-up

Just a quick note to point out that my MAX 2009 talk on AIR distribution and deployment is now available on Adobe TV. Admittedly t's more like slides-with-a-voice-over than what one would traditionally call "TV". Oh well.

Took some great questions from the audience during the talk. If you have further questions, please post a comment or drop me an email. (My email address is in the last slide of the presentation.)

MAX wouldn't be half as exciting without new stuff to announce, and this year there will be plenty of news. And while developers tend to focus mostly on new APIs when we think about updates to AIR, there are some new deployment options coming, too--options that may enable key new scenarios for some applications. I'll be talking about these new options as well as providing an overview of the existing optios at my MAX 2009 session, "Explore Deployment and Distribution Options for Adobe AIR Applications".

At this year's MAX conference I'll be speaking on deployment and distribution options for AIR applications. Here's the description:

Learn how to get your AIR applications to your users and how to keep them up to date. We will discuss important considerations for distribution on the Internet or an intranet, including impacts on your auto-update mechanism. We will cover existing deployment options such as badge installation and IBM Tivoli support. Finally, we will explore the new deployment options that will be available in Adobe AIR 2, including the native installer support required to use some of the advanced new AIR 2 APIs.

My favorite part of MAX is hearing directly from you. If you're there, I hope you'll stop by and say hello.

Interested in improving the performance of your AIR application? Have a look at Performance-Tuning AIR Applications, at the Adobe Developer Center. (This is a follow-up to my MAX 2008 presentation on the same subject.)

I'll be at MAX 2008 this afternoon presenting a talk on High Performance AIR Applications. I'll hang around for a bit afterward, too, for anyone interested in a more in-depth discussion.

I've posted the presentation and accompanying sample code on Acrobat.com.

If there are other performance-related topics you'd like me to address in this blog, please post a comment to that effect.

MAX 2008 is Gearing Up

Although it might seem far away, MAX 2008 is approaching quickly.

Nominations for the MAX Awards are due August 25th.

The early bird registration discount for the North America conference (Nov 16-19) is available until August 31st.

Information on sessions is available via the Session Locator. Shameless plug: I'll be presenting a talk on high-performance AIR applications on Wednesday.
