ColdFusion 9.0.1 installed with Cumulative hotfix 2 supports Mac OSX Lion (10.7.x). Check http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/918/cpsid_91836.html for more details.

We are currently investigating our support for Lion server.

  1. In my testing, CF 9 on OS X Lion is still broken. Yes, it will now start on Lion, but CFDocument still fails, clicking the “i” in the upper right corner of the CFAdmin never loads.

    I am running CF 9.0.1 64 bit on OS X 10.7.1.

First I just installed CHF2 according to the instructions. I then had the same issues I had prior to installing CHF2. (no CFDocument and no system information in the CFAdmin)

So then I completely uninstalled CF, installed it again in Multiserver configuration, updated it to 9.0.1 and then installed CHF 2. The same problems persist.

I am happy that we no longer have to manually replace the jpedal.jar file to get CF 9.0.1 to start on OS X Lion, though.

  2. BTW I suppose I should define what cfdocument not working actually means. Whenever I execute a page with cfdocument on it, the page never completes its execution. The process just hangs. The system monitor just shows it waiting at the cfdocument call.

  3. I can also verify ALL of these items on my FRESH CLEAN install I just did today. cfdocument fails to do ANYTHING. I’ve dug through all the log files and nothing is getting logged.

Also, in the CFAdmin the Settings SUmmary and Information pages never load. They simply hang forever.

I’ve documented this here and I found Sean’s bug report and added my comments and vote to that. http://cfbugs.adobe.com/cfbugreport/flexbugui/cfbugtracker/main.html?CFID=35107171&CFTOKEN=5073efdce040dcf8-90955C2B-5056-A631-A604B672FA9883A6&jsessionid=5230bf619e7a52a097d24d151f3a3e5e1f2e#bugId=87102

Thanks everyone for reporting this. We have verified the issues with cfdocument on osx lion with the chf. We are working on it.

    • Any ideas when things will be fixed? The only reason I have not upgrade my machine to Lion is because of Coldfusion… :(

      • It would be nice if someone responded. I would also like to know when ColdFusion becomes compatible with Lion.

      • With our current focus on ColdFusion Zeus, we will not be fixing these issues at this point.

We will not be working towards supporting ColdFusion 9.0.1 on Lion. However, ColdFusion Zeus will be supported on OSX Lion.

It’s time Adobe made this open source…. If you’re not going to support your product then let it go…

Seems like developing cfdocument related code on lion has three options now:

    1) Wait for CF 10 – customers might be a bit upset due to me not doing much for a while.
    2) Downgrade to Snow Leopard – loose disk encryption and a bunch of other features required for my work flow
    3) Run windows in a VM just so I can use coldfusion – my best option so far….

Come on Adobe, you’ve half fixed the issue can you finish it please…

  7. Really adobe, your anwer is wait till CF10? WTF Adobe this is insane after all Railo supports Lion, My prod servers run CF9 and won’t be updated to CF10 at least till 10.1.X with your track record. You make it so hard for us CF developers… you might as well say
“Dear CF developer F#$# U switch to Railo”

  8. Rupesh/Rakshith,

I use CFdocument every day. It’s a core, high usage feature of CF.

I was forced onto Lion due to an upgraded machine. Going back is not an option.

    The comments state:

    - A fix to cfdocument + Lion is not planned for CF 9.01.
    - There is no date for Zeus.

If so, does this mean there is no support/fixes for the current version of CF from Adobe?

If not, what do I do in the meantime?

I understand the impetus to get Zeus out, it’s exciting. We have to keep working until then ;)

    Thanks,
    jas
