First of many visits…. My trip to Vegas User Groups

Adobe User Group Visit – 16 March 2011 (Las Vegas AUGs)

One of the things, I asked Adobe to do for the User Groups this past year in our budget process was to make it easier for me as the Adobe Community Manager to visit user group meetings, so I can judge for myself how healthy the user group eco-system is.   SO… to start things off, I thought I would bring Technical Evangelist Greg Wilson to a joint meeting of the Las Vegas Adobe, Vegas Flash, and VegasWeb User Group to talk about Mobile Apps & HTML5.  Subsequently, I had been working for some time with the Vegas AUG  Team: Krystal Hosmer, Nate Ludens, Terence Carroll, Tim Davis, Greg Hamer, and Sergio Chavez to get one our evangelist and myself there for a visit.

Las Vegas AUG was the host for this event. Held at: University of Nevada Las Vegas – Paradise Campus — 851 E. Tropicana Rd.  Greg and I were pleasantly surprised how well the Vegas AUG Mgr team worked together, co-marketed their event, and motivated 70 folks to turn out.

Upcoming Speaking Gigs

In the next few weeks I’ll be speaking at two different conferences, one on each coast.

On March 21, I’ll be talking about how to navigate the waters when two developer communities are working together at the Evans Data Developer Relations conference in San Jose. I had a great time speaking there last year with my colleague Craig Goodman, and am looking forward to returning.

And then on April 5 I’ll be at Social Media & Community 2.0 Strategies in Boston, on the topic of what NOT to do in community management. Looking at the rest of the speaker roster, I’m really excited to hear what they all have to say, and honored I’m on the list.

If you’re going to be at either event, or looking for a couple of good events in the near future, I hope to see you there!
