Connect multiple cameras in Connect meeting room

Problem:

We can easily connect multiple cameras in a connect meeting room, as long as you have multiple browsers and enough ports on the PC/Mac.

Solution:

To connect multiple cameras:

  • Launch Adobe Connect Add-in as a host and connect the room to your first camera or the default camera you usually use.
  • Launch another Web browser like Google Chrome or Firefox. In the browser address field enter your room link but append ?launcher=false after the Meeting room URL.
  • Login to the room and right mouse click anywhere on share pod and select the camera you want to be connected in this browser.
  • Launch the Camera Pod and you should see the video coming from the other camera.

You can do this again but using Firefox the third time.  As long as you have multiple browsers and enough ports on the PC/Mac and multiple cameras, you should be ready to go!

Installing add-in for all user profiles

Problem:

The applications function is to automatically install the Adobe Connect Pro Meeting Addin into the correct system user profile upon system login. Thereby removing any end user effort for additional addin installations when attending Adobe Connect Meetings.

Reason:

The application is designed to be pushed and installed by a system administrator on all user workstations. Once installed the application will automatically install the addin into the logged in users profile once the user logs into Windows.

Solution:

You can download the Connect Add-in Checker from http://www.adobe.com/go/adobeconnect_addinchecker.

Steps to be implemented are shown below:

1. Login using Adminstrator user.
2. Run Setup.exe – (for the initial install to be more silent try Setup.exe –I silent).
3. The application will be installed into “Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat Connect Pro Add In Checker”.
4. Login using a non admin user.
5. An application should start up (may not be visible). Wait several moments and check the expected flash folder for connectaddin.exe.If application does not appear to have started, check blocked programs to see if it was intercepted

Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings%user%\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player[www.macromedia.com|http://www.macromedia.com]\bin\connectaddin

Windows Vista:
C:\Users\$user$[AppData]\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player[www.macromedia.com|http://www.macromedia.com]\bin\connectaddin

6. Test logging into meeting room, verify that meeting launches within the Connect Pro Meeting addin.

Silent installation of Connect add-in

Problem:

Silent installation of Connect add-in.

Reason:

If you want the Add-in install wizard to run in background, you can install the Add-in Silently.

Solution:

The command to install add-in silently is: Setup.exe /SP- this disables “This will install… Do you wish to continue?” prompt at the beginning of Setup. Of course, this will have no effect if  the DisableStartupPrompt [Setup] section directive is set to yes.

Very silent would be: /SILENT, /VERYSILENT – this Instructs Setup to be silent or very silent. When Setup is silent, the  wizard and the background window are not displayed but the installation progress window is. When a setup is very silent, this installation  progress window is not displayed. Error messages during installation are displayed and the Startup  prompt if you haven’t disabled it with DisableStartupPrompt or the  ‘/SP-’ command line option explained above.

After upgrade to Connect 8,database settings page loops back and never complete

Problem:

After upgrade to Connect 8, sometimes the wizard takes us to database settings page on the console, and when we click on next,it simply goes back to first screen again. In short, database settings loops back and never complete.

Reason:

If you see this in debug logs:

01-27 17:14:45] console-8510-1 (ERROR) ERROR OCCURRED IN fetch com.macromedia.breeze.model.Account
[01-27 17:14:45] console-8510-1 (INFO) Exception caught in DBRows.populate(), e=com.macromedia.airspeed.StatusException$Invalid$NoSuchItem:

[01-27 17:14:39] cps-startup (ERROR) ERROR OCCURRED IN fetch com.macromedia.breeze.model.Asset
[01-27 17:14:39] cps-startup (INFO) Exception caught in DBRows.populate(), e=com.macromedia.airspeed.StatusException$Invalid$NoSuchItem:

Solution:

Logs indicate that few DB columns in few tables do not get created during the upgrade process. You need to call Support for further help.

DB user is locked and you get error message on the DB configuration page.

Problem:

DB user is locked and you get error message on the DB configuration page that “Your login failed for this database user. Please verify that you have specified the correct login and password for your database user.”

Reason:

If you see this in debug logs:

2011-03-29 12:28:08 “Unable to connect to database breeze.” DB DB_CONNECTION_ERROR E S – “-” – - -

2011-03-29 12:28:25 “Start up error: java.sql.SQLException: MacromediaSQLServer JDBC DriverSQLServerLogin failed for user ‘breeze’ because the account is currently locked out. The system administrator can unlock it. .” START_UP START_UP_ERROR E S – “-” – - -
Error message on the DB configuration page “Your login failed for this database user. Please verify that you have specified the correct login and password for your database user.”

Solution:

To resolve this unlock account issue, we need to uncheck the status of user on its Login Properties.
You can go to DB engine -> Security -> Logins -> Right click properties on sa and uncheck “Login is locked out” on its status.
