New Photoshop Elements 9 & Premiere Elements 9 Both Available for the First Time on Both Mac and Windows Platforms

Photoshop Elements 9 and Premiere Elements 9, the newest release of the No. 1 selling consumer photo- and video-editing software, is now available on the Mac and Windows platforms. For the first time ever, Premiere Elements is being introduced for the Mac and the popular Organizer is available to all users.

You may have been one of the over 3 million people “wow-ed” by Photoshop CS5’s sneak peek of the Content-Aware Fill feature on YouTube. Some say it was simply…magic.

The beauty of the Photoshop and Premiere Pro product family, is that all that great technology isn’t just reserved for the pros. Photoshop Elements 9 users can try out the new Spot Healing Brush – where content intelligence analyzes what’s in the image and quickly de-clutters or repairs photos (like removing tourists from a crowded scene) with just a swipe of a brush, magically filling in the background. Photoshop Elements 9 and Premiere Elements 9, available for the first time on both the Windows and Mac platforms, provide one-click features and guided edits to help you tell your story with photos and videos in a lot less time.

Content intelligence is the smart technology that analyzes the content within an image and synthesizes missing pixel information to create a stunning photo devoid of any distractions or a panorama from multiple photos, without leaving any gaps or blank spaces. It’s as if the software looked through the same lens you did and knows exactly how to reproduce what you saw.

Premiere Elements’ also boasts intelligent features that automatically fix audio problems, trim away bad footage, stabilize shaky shots and correct bad color and lighting problems. Also, the improved Organizer makes sharing photos and videos to Facebook, YouTube and Photoshop.com easier than ever.

Join the Photoshop Elements team on Facebook and Twitter to see what the buzz is about – learn new tips & tricks, get inspired and share your creations with others.

Does it now allow 16bit editing with all tools, like Paint Shop Pro?

      Hi Arno,

Thanks for the question. PSE supports 8-bit editing. For 16-bit editing, you would need full Photoshop.

@Pooja Prasad: That’s very dissapointing. Paint Shop Pro does it and a lot of other programs have no problems with 16 bit as well. Adobe should have listened to the customers.

This is wonderful. I love Content Aware Fill in Photoshop CS5, but work with lots of artists that only use Elements. I recently did a blog post about the CS5 version.

Is there a x64 bit version available for Windows 7? Does it utilize multiple core processing threads?

      Hello,

We run on 64 bit machines, but Photoshop Elements is a 32 bit application. Yes, some functionality utilizes multi-core CPU’s.

Sounds great. Unfortunately, I upgraded to v8 last month and Adobe has refused to offer v9 to me in one month’s time.

My last purchase of this product. I feel slighted as customer of many years upgrading every year and this is the thanks Adobe gives to it’s loyal customers.

There are alternatives and my money will be spent elsewhere.

Both Photoshop Elements 9 and Premiere Elements 9, as well as the bundled Elements 9 Organizer run as 32-bit applications on my 2010 Unibody MacBook Pro.

Is there a 64-bit update on the horizon?

I posted reviews for this product and I do not recommend it to a fellow Mac user, not until Adobe releases a 64-bit update. Everything else on my Mac runs on 64-bit except for this.

I am not able to use some of the features of PSE 9 on my Windows i7, 64bit laptop with with 8gb RAM (system max). PSE9 uses a lot of memory, due to only being a 32bit program, I cannot take advantage of my much needed RAM. I have been on support with Adobe for hours and they cannot provide solutions or answers. Seems easy to me, need a 32 bit machine with lots of memory or 64bit program!

Spoke with a tech online and then was directed to call, they could not provide solution. I have had my computer tested by Comp USA and my company IT team and all tests show the machine is optimizieed and running properly. I also increased the available RAM to 90% in preferences and have not been able to perform filling in panorama an out of bounds in quick edit locks up. Do you have other advice? Could my install disk be corrupt? Would my machine work better with CS5? Thanks!

I am unable to find any information regarding a 64 Bit version of PSE 10. I am currently using 8 and have grown to love it over time. I must admit it took me while to even like it, but now I am sold. Would love to have a 64 Bit version as I work with 5D Mark II 21 MP images always.
