Keeping The 20/20 Vision Alive

Exciting times for the AYV Peapod community in Redwood City, California!

Last weekend was a whirlwind trip to Washington, DC, where students participated in the Department of Education’s Youth Listening Tour, performing the song 20/20 Vision for a live audience at Howard University.

The weekend included an opportunity for the students to connect with other young leaders from across the country, a Q&A session with the U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, as well as plenty of sight seeing around the nation’s capital.

Watch this short film about the group’s experiences at the Youth Listening Tour:

The weekend came to a poetic conclusion on Monday, when AYV media mentor Gabriel Lomeli arrived back home in Redwood City and received his acceptance letter to a graduate program at Stanford University!

Gabriel received the news of his acceptance to Stanford while on site at the AYV Peapod Academy, allowing his students to share in the joy of the moment and providing a real life example of where hard work and big dreams can take you.

We’re proud of our Redwood City students and we hope that seeing Gabriel’s success will inspire everyone to keep the 20/20 Vision alive!
