The 9th Annual Adobe Omniture Summit kicked off today in Salt Lake City, Utah, and there’s a lot of news that we are excited to share with you. We’ve announced a next-generation platform for the Adobe Online Marketing Suite, and the latest version of SiteCatalyst is built on this new platform. We’ve also announced a brand new social analytics solution, strengthened our data and advertising technology partner ecosystem with the Demdex acquisition, and received industry accreditation from the Media Rating Council.

Today marks a very important milestone for Adobe – the close of our acquisition of Omniture. Congratulations to everyone at Adobe and Omniture who helped make this combination a reality.
With the acquisition officially closed, we will now begin work on key product integrations to deliver an unmatched solution for “completing the loop,” from content creation through optimization. We have some exciting plans for delivering greater ROI to publishers, advertisers, designers and developers: integration with the Flash Platform, integration with the Creative Suite tools, and integration of Omniture solutions into our multi-screen strategy to name a few.
At the same time, we will continue to invest in the Omniture business and its success as a standalone offering. Josh James is heading up the new Omniture BU, and I expect the business to continue to thrive with the additional geographic and vertical market capabilities that Adobe brings.
Some people have called the combination of Adobe’s content creation tools and ubiquitous clients with Omniture’s web analytics, measurement and optimization tools the “marriage of art and science.” I would like to thank all our customers and partners for their enthusiasm about this “marriage.” We look forward to providing you solutions that will make the most of the amazing content and applications you are bringing to the Web and across devices.

In big news on the corporate front….On Tuesday, Sept. 15, Adobe announced it intends to acquire Omniture (Nasdaq: OMTR)) for approximately $1.8 billion. Based in Orem, Utah, Omniture was founded in 1996 and today is a recognized leader in Web analytics and online business optimization. Omniture marks Adobe’s largest acquisition since the company bought Macromedia for $3.4 billion in 2005.
The acquisition will further Adobe’s mission of revolutionizing the way the world engages with ideas and information. The combination of the two companies will increase the value Adobe delivers to customers. For designers, developers and online marketers, an integrated workflow — with optimization capabilities embedded in the creation tools — will streamline the creation and delivery of relevant content and applications. This optimization will enable advertisers, advertising agencies, publishers and e-tailers to achieve greater ROI from their digital media investments and improve their end users’ experiences.
The transaction is expected to close during Q4 of Adobe’s FY 2009. Once the deal is finalized, Omniture will become a new business unit within Adobe under the leadership Omniture CEO Josh James; Josh will join Adobe as senior vice president reporting to Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen.
