Creative Cloud Connection now available

Our vision for the Creative Cloud has been to add continuously to what you get with your membership. That means that as long as you’re a member, you’ll have access to the best of what Adobe has to offer: our applications, services, and the connections we’re building between all of it.

One of the core pieces of that vision is the Creative Cloud Connection itself. It’s a utility that keeps the work you’ve created in our touch apps or uploaded to the web site in sync with the files on your desktop. With Connection, you’ll be able to work where you want with the tools you’ve got at hand. Everything you create will seamlessly update across your devices.

Today, we’re excited to release a preview version of the Creative Cloud Connection. It’s available to every member of the Creative Cloud, and you can download it here.

We’ve put a lot of effort into performance, security, and privacy of your files. We’ve also been focused on the web experience behind the Creative Cloud. Any file you place into the Creative Cloud folder on your desktop will be available at creative.adobe.com, where it’s easy to browse, get links to share publicly, and leave comments. In fact, if the files were created by one of the Creative Suite apps, you can do even more: manipulate layers on a Photoshop document, page through an InDesign file, or generate a PDF of your work to share with others.

We’ve got lots to come, as well. Up next, we’ll add even more collaboration features, including the ability to share privately with workgroups as well as browse and restore previous versions of files. We’ll also remain dedicated to making Connection as fast as it can be, especially when syncing files that are frequently updated.

As ever, we’d love to hear from you; let us know in the Adobe community forums if you have any questions or comments. And thanks again for choosing the Creative Cloud.

Thank you so much for releasing this. It has definitely been the missing link in the Creative Cloud apps.

  2. Janne Nilsson says:

Sorry. Download link only activates the Application Manager. No Cloud Connection app in sight there…

    • CircleB says:

You should be a little more thorough before you post like that, once the App Manager is updated you can find a link to install the CCC at the bottom of the list of applications.

  3. Olle says:

What I’m I supposed to do with the files except store them?

  4. Whew, that’s a relief. Very glad to see this…

Thanks for the update and for getting it out.

    HOOORRAAAAYYYY!!!!!!

  8. Bill says:

Where is it? I cant see it in the apps??

    • Bill, check the FAQ linked in the comments above – it may be your system doesn’t meet the requirements for the software:

“Currently, the Creative Cloud Connection supports Mac OS 10.7 and 10.8 and Windows 7 and Windows 8 “

    • Megan says:

Bill, you may have to clear your browser cache for it to appear on the Apps list… Try that and see if it shows up. Alternatively, you could launch the Adobe Applications Manager irectly, and you should see it there.

It would be nice with more storage options. As for now my customer base fills up 52GB. So 20 is far far away from dropbox competition. And I’m just a sole trader!

    • JJ Sereday says:

Yea I think competitive storage options would be a great addition. I would gladly leave Dropbox if I could purchase an extra 100GB for a similar price as Dropbox or Google Drive. Also If you can allow folder sharing, (not just individual files) I feel that this is a necessity.

  12. Franck Payen says:

Hi, when did the required conf changed ? the US websites specifies :
Creative Cloud Connection preview • Mac OS X v10.7 or 10.8
while the french website states : • Mac OS X v10.6 ou v10.7

No chance to get it back for 10.6.8 users ?

    • mwallen says:

Early in our development cycle we had support for 10.6 and that’s why it was mentioned on the Technical Specs page on Adobe.com. We’re taking steps to correct these pages.

To give you a little insight into our decision about not supporting 10.6 in the initial ‘preview’ release. The Mac OS notifications we rely on to detect local file/folder changes are not as rich on 10.6 as they are in 10.7 and 10.8. This causes problems in the syncing experience. For instance on 10.7+ we’re notified about exact details on what changed about a file or folder (moved, renamed, deleted etc…). 10.6 we get a general notification that something has changed, but without the details. This led to potential missed syncs of moves, renames until the next sync operation was triggered. 10.6 is in our backlog and we’re researching if we can fix the sync experience.

Hope this helps. Thanks again for the feedback.

Thx you so much!! we were waiting for this feature since a long time! For the next future we must have the ability to choose at least on witch hard drive we synchronize our files. Nobody put his work on the OS’ drive… And to be able to pay for more space could be interesting.
Thx you again for the hard work, Creative Cloud is really amazing for the price! i hope you’ll release soon the TEAM version! And it will be great if you can share your RoadMap plan so we kind of know when the new features are coming :)

  14. Chavlez says:

Will the CC act as a document repository for versioning?

  15. ron says:

It would be great if the share feature could be a Folder in addition to images. That way a specific folder could be set up for different groups to share with.

  16. JustIz says:

It would be nice if I could move the location of the Creative Cloud folder. You can do this on Google Drive and Dropbox. So consider this an official feature request.

    • JustIz says:

Oh and an iPad/iPhone app would be even better. I currently use the web client on my iPad but having to log in every time is a pain.

Great job though, this is very well done and very well thought out.

    • Matt says:

I came here to say exactly this. For an app so long in the making, it is a major oversite that this feature isn’t available in the first version. My C: drive is a small SSD so to not be able to change the folder to another drive makes this unusable for me. I hope they quickly remedy this.

      • Charles says:

I’d also like to request the ability to change the default location. Even before I used an SSD I never kept data on my primary drive just to make it less annoying to recover data if anything happened with the operating system.

  17. We really need to be able to change the default location for the CC folder. Those of us using limited-space SSDs as a system drive don’t necessarily have the space to add large numbers of files.

  18. Paul in Charlotte says:

I would also like to echo the request to be able to move/change the location of the Creative Cloud Files folder. As is the case with most modern computer setups, my system and program files are on a SSD while my files are located on a much larger HDD.

As it stands right now, I can’t use this great feature.

    • Kerrigan says:

Hey paul, exact same issue here, I have a 128gb ssd so space is fairly precious on that. I only install windows, adobe and handful of apps on that and maybe temp work files before I store them on big backup drives.

Please adobe, let me store your 20gb service on a larger harddrive.

  19. Meike says:

There´s no more download icon for the creative cloud connection. Is this possible? I´m in the cloud since one week and try to install the crative cloud connection. Impossible!!! Who can help?

  20. Tim says:

I tried it and have decided to stick with dropbox. But, no where can I find instructions on how to remove the application. It does not show up in the creative suite cleaner. And, telephone support doesn’t even know that this application exists.

Hello: I just installed the CCC and had no install problems. I began to use it w/no issues but then suddenly I got a message saying “Unable to sync file(s).

I have Windows 7 64 bit. I have no idea what to try to fix this problem. I am new to computers in general. I would love to be able to use this App b/c I use 2 computers & being able to share files between them would be great.

I have installed this on both of my computers (same system) but CCC doesn’t work on either of them. Any ideas? Thank you.

  23. David says:

Disappointed. Of little practical value to me and my family.

  24. Sara says:

“Today, we’re excited to release a preview version of the Creative Cloud Connection. It’s available to every member of the Creative Cloud, and you can download it here.”

Apparently the Cloud Connection is not available to everyone – only Mac OS 10.7 or higher. I use both DropBox and Creative Cloud, and DropBox wins hands-down when it comes to ease of use with file transfer (because I ca’t download the CCC). However, Creative Cloud wins over DropBox, as the Creative Suite is offered here – and nothing beats Adobe’s Creative Suite applications.

I’m a web design/interactive media major, and this individual file transfer is wasting precious time.

In my humble opinion, the CCC should be available to all operating systems.

I have been trying to use my paid subscription of Adobe Premiere for over two weeks. I cannot get it to work. I have also paid for Creative Cloud, because the “help” person told me that was a better deal. The other programs in Creative cloud all work, but there is no Premiere. That is the only program I need to complete the assignments for my class. I have been on hold for more than 40 minutes at a time, and I have tried calling numerous times. I have not been able to get any help. Can anyone help me figure out why Adobe Premiers is not in my download manager along with the other programs in Creative Cloud? Remember I have paid for BOTH but only need premiere.
    Thank you in advance~
