We’re packing our gear for the Education, Interactive and Film Festivals at SXSW 2014. Next week, web designers, developers, filmmakers, educators and social marketers will descend on Austin, Texas—and, this year, Adobe has something for everyone.

Jason Levine, Adobe’s worldwide evangelist for video apps/Creative Cloud, is leading a start-to-finish workflow session titled “Capture, Cut, Color, Deliver.” Or, sit in with Adobe marketing manager, Meagan Keane when she moderates “Content Creation with Soul” with Soul Pancake CEO and executive producer, Shabnam Mogharabi and her team. And, finally, don’t forget to come by the Adobe booth; during the Film Festival we’ll be in Exhibit Hall 4 of the Austin Convention Center with live demos, presentations and Creative Cloud workflow experts discussing our innovative apps.
Designing developing for the web?
Friday March 7 in the Riverside Ballroom at the Radisson Town Lake we’ll be holding our annual All-Day Creative Camp for web designers and developers. In addition to the Typekit pop-up library we’ll have five sessions all with topics focusing on shaping the modern web and, since making it through SXSW requires constant refueling, we’ll also have food (sliders, petit BLTs, gourmet popcorn) and a Happy Hour during our final session of the day.

Art directors are becoming animators. Print designers are becoming web designers. Illustrators are also photographers and editors who also shoot film. They are the New Creatives, and we are celebrating their work.
With the Creative Cloud our product teams have removed the barriers to creative expression: Designers can build parallax HTML5 experiences. Illustrators are making EPUBs. Photographers are using their cameras and Adobe technology to become filmmakers. And coders have the tools to make beautiful design.
It’s an amazing and interesting time in our industry; people have the ability to self-express, in any discipline, without boundaries. I Am The New Creative promotes the amazing work our community is producing and marks this moment in time as a movement and a celebration of creativity.
One of the most incredible aspects of this program has been watching creative professionals merge their mediums and their portraits to produce “New Creatives” versions of themselves.
There’s something magical about the compositions. As a designer there’s always a part of me in my work, but to personalize my work in this way, to make my work more representative of me, presents an alternative perspective. All of the artists we’re working with are enjoying this experience and are appreciative of our desire to promote their amazing creative output.
Our new site highlights the New Creatives, their disciplines, their work, and their stories.
Visitors to the site can join us and become New Creatives (submissions are made through Behance and curated by our team); we’ll be choosing a number of artists and celebrating them and their work throughout our social properties and on Adobe.com during the coming year.

Today, we’re unveiling a new addition to the Digital Media blog, focused on the Web platform. The new blog, called Adobe & The Web, will touch on thought leadership, industry trends and product related announcements from Adobe and partners in the standards and open source Web space. We’ll also touch on commercial tools and service offerings. See our inaugural post below and look for much more to come.
Today in San Francisco, we kicked off Create the Web, a worldwide tour for interactive web designers and developers and partners that will provide us with the opportunity to share our vision for the web. We are delivering a live streamed keynote that lays out our vision for the web and the role that Adobe will play.
Our mission is to make the web better and to build the best tools in the world for web designers and developers.
We contribute to web standards and to open source projects, like WebKit and Cordova, to move the web forward. We get involved in the community, through hackatons and meet-ups. For example, we have worked with the community to organize a series of events called Test The Web Forward. These are a kind of hackatons where we focus on identifying and fixing interoperability problems in the various browsers. We welcome and encourage the participation of anyone interested in joining us.
We are contributing improvements in a few areas where we have some expertise, including magazine-quality layout (CSS Regions & CSS Exclusions), graphical foundation (blend modes, compositing and transforms), better device APIs and cinematic visual effects (CSS custom filters). We are also making available today CSS FilterLab, a fun experiment to play with custom filters, which even allows you to write and debug custom shaders right from your browser.
We also build the tools and services that web designers and developers need. This includes tools like Dreamweaver, our all-in one web production tool. We are releasing today an update to Dreamweaver with support for new HTML5 elements, faster FTP, a streamlined insert panel, support for Edge Animate and more. This update is available for free to Creative Cloud members.
We’ve also introduced Edge Web Fonts, a new service built on the Typekit engine to deliver free and open source fonts.
We’ve given a sneak preview of a new tool we’re working on called Edge Reflow which makes it easy to create responsive web content visually, but using standard CSS and media-queries.

Adobe: When did you first start developing and what inspired you to get started?
Jordan Casey: I first started developing when I was nine, I was playing a flash multiplayer game called Club Penguin and saw that other kids were building websites and blogs about it, and I saw that this could be fun, so I learned three languages: HTML, Actionscript 2.0 and CSS and went ahead and made my site.
Yesterday was a big day for Adobe and all Adobe users worldwide as we launched the Adobe Creative Cloud membership and Creative Suite 6! After announcing the Creative Cloud membership and CS6 in San Francisco, we hosted a scavenger hunt with $10,000 and Creative Cloud memberships on the line.
Users had the option to hunt around various locations in San Francisco, ending at our SF office, to complete a puzzle that entered them into the contest. People outside of San Francisco joined the Race to Create online, which put their knowledge to the test and in a race to the finish. (more…)
