Updates to Upload Performance & File Management

When we launched the Creative Cloud Membership a few weeks ago, Jeff blogged about the change we’re undergoing at Adobe. One of the key changes is the move from huge releases every couple of years to continuous improvements through frequent iteration.

We’ve been listening to your feedback since we launched and are responding as quickly as we can. Some of the customer feedback we heard when we launched was around file upload performance and file management. As a result, we have added significant performance improvements – particularly for file upload. Now, when you upload a bunch of files to Creative Cloud, you’ll see much faster transfer speeds. If you’re using Firefox, Chrome or Safari, you can just drag those files right into your browser. Try it and let us know what you think.

We are also working on some file management enhancements, starting with making it easier to move and delete individual files. Small changes, but, this is just the beginning. Stay tuned as there is much more to come.

We need information on the release date for LR4. As my camera is not supported on LR3, and my LR4 trial has expired, I’m in a bit of a fix until LR4 is available on the Cloud.

  2. Scott says:

Since you haven’t released the PC connectivity interface are we ever going to be able to just drag and drop a folder to the server instead of the need to create each folder individually. I would love to have this working so I can work collaboratively with some friends of mine.

    Thanks much!

    • Kevin Stewart says:

The team is hard at work on a bunch of features to make collaboration much easier. We’ll be rolling them out as soon as they’re ready. Stay tuned!

  3. David McNally says:

Thanks for the improvements. It still took some exploring to figure out how to delete a file/folder, but I figured it out. Looking forward to sync. Keep up the hard work!

  4. Jonny Akselsen says:

It is possible to transfere files to/from Creative Clouds in Bridge, any way?

  5. Mathew L says:

When is Lightroom 4 coming to Creative Cloud? It’s been out for weeks as a separate product, my trial has run out, and my camera (Canon 5D MkIII) is not supported by LR3.

  6. Simone Kalt says:

Although not everything is perfectly running yet – never forget – you did a great job @Adobe! Thank you for CS6, the Cloud and the touch apps! I will never ever work without!

  7. Jeremy McCorkle says:

I really want to subscribe to the cloud, but I am hesitant to do so until LR4 is included. I can get by with my CS5 and LR3 until then, but would really like to upgrade. Is there an ETA for LR4 to be included?

  8. Lynn Creel says:

Feature upgrades are nice, but I’m much more interested in not having to “activate your software” every day. I’ve quit using acrobat because it won’t work unless I “reactivate” Photoshop or Illustrator

I uploaded an mp4 file. It was created in Abobe premier pro 6. I want to share it with someone, but it tells me I can’t share that type of file. Why can I not share that file? Is there a list of files that it will share that I can find?

    • Megan says:

Hi Charles. Users can store any file type, but Creative Cloud does not support sharing of mp4 files as well as several other video and audio file types at this time. Sorry for the inconvenience.

      • Sheree says:

will mp4 files be supported for sharing soon?
Where is the list of files that are – and files that are not supported?
        Thank you

  10. Kris says:

Multiple file upload progress indication is needed. One can’t tell if a file is uploading or if it is in the que when you use Chrome to drag and drop multiple files.

  11. Jeannie says:

I would like to use Cloud as an off-site back up, but I can’t upload folders, which is how I have thousands of files organized. Am I misunderstanding or is there a work around.

    • Megan says:

Hi Jeannie. There are two things you can do.

      1. From the web (creative.adobe.com), you can add folders by clicking the icon at the top of the Files section that looks like a folder with a plus sign. After creating the folders, you can batch move the files by toggling to the multi-select view (the button has an icon that looks like 3 lines with boxes next to them. It’s located to the right of the trash can button).

      2. Or, you can download and install Creative Cloud Connection. This will let you manage the files & folders on your local machine and have them automatically sync up/down from the Cloud. You can download this application from http://creative.adobe.com/apps/. I recommend this approach for the long term.

      Hope this helps!
