All,
Few weeks ago an error was reported that prevented users on Lion from installing extensions using Extension Manager. Back then we had released an manual fix that solved the problem (blogpost, forum thread).
Today we are releasing an update to Extension Manager CS5 and CS5.5 that fixes this issue. Note that this update is not yet available through Adobe Update Manager. However, anyone can download it below and address the signature issue:
* patch for CS5
* patch for CS5.5
Who should download this patch?
This update applies to users who have:
* Mac OS 10.7 and above
* Extension Manager CS5 or Extension Manager CS5.5 (if you have both versions, you need to install both updates)
Note: After you install this patch, you will not be prompted to install again when it becomes available through Adobe Update Manager.
Installation instructions
* Download the zip file and save it on your machine
* Extract the contents of the zip file. The zip contains a *.dmg file that is the patch
* Quit any instances of Extension Manager that are running
* Double-click the dmg file
* Run the AdobePatchInstaller and follow the installation instructions
* Start Extension Manager and install your extensions

The Extension Manager still doesn’t work for me after applying the patch. The interim solution of replacing the ExMan.swf file did not work either. (Mac OS 10.7.2, Adobe CS 5.5) After installing the patch, in a Finder window, I see that Adobe Extension Manager CS5.5 has a Date Last Modified of 5/25/11 12:58 PM.

What is the version of Extension Manager after applying the patch? Is it 5.5.2?

Hi Gabe, I would have posted there, but I don’t find a Comment button.
I just double-checked the item info for Adobe Extension Manager 5.5, and it says Version 5.5.2.20 and Created and Modified May 25, 2011.
The application still exhibits the same behavior: a menu at the top is all that appears, but the About Extension Manager menu item doesn’t do anything. All I can do is Quit — and even that reports an Error. I’ll post this in the other forum if I can figure out how to do that.

The CS5.5 version would not installed for me.
The application manager stopped installation with the following error:
Adobe Extension Manager CS5.5 Update
Installation cancelled. Error Code: U44M2P24

You can download the update installer http://download.macromedia.com/pub/dw_exchange/extension_manager/mac/AdobeExtensionManager_5_5_2_mul_AdobeUpdate.dmg then install it manually.

Unfortunately, the update doesn’t fix anything. For me it’s made things worse. I don’t understand how a company as large as Adobe can let an issue like this continue to go on.
I tried all the different updates, uninstalled and reinstalled software etc. Still broken.

Hi guys! I double click on the dmg file but it doesn’t open, like if windows have no clue how to open the file so it asks me to selec a program to do so. What should I do?? Thanks in advance
Are you on a Mac or PC. If you’re on a PC this file is not meant for you, it’s a Mac only update. If you are on a Mac it should open an image in the same place disk drives appear double click the installer file within this area.
