Omniture Engineering Services developed a large number of Complimentary VISTA Solution — Google Search Rank solutions since it was announced several months ago.  We heard back from some of you about your success with the solution but we encourage you to send more.   If you have success stories or comments on the development of the solution then please send me an e-mail at paurigemma (at) omniture.com

Important Notice: The solution will no longer be complimentary at the end of this month.  You need to have an agreement with your signature on it before the end of the month or you will no longer be able to take advantage of this complimentary VISTA solution.  Starting Oct 1, standard VISTA rates will apply.

Remember, the Google Search Rank Solution is a custom built solution; you will have a dedicated engineer to design and build the solution to work on your report suite/s.  The process can take a few weeks to get this custom engineered solution into production, so please plan accordingly.

As always, post your comments or e-mail me at paurigemma (at) omniture.com.  It is your comments and e-mails that keep me posting and give me ideas for future posts.  If you do decide to purchase an Engineering Services solution, make sure you mention the blog and you will get white glove treatment.

The problem with this Visa rule is it shows only 10% of the actual keyword data because all the Google listings do not have rank in the url string.

Yes please, we would like this set up.

Hi, wouldn’t it be possible to write a javascript plug-in that grabs this information from the referrer and puts it into an evar? Will Omniture supply such a plug-in? What would the drawbacks be with such a plug-in compared to the VISTA solution?

      Eskil,
Hi, wouldn’t it be possible to write a JavaScript plug-in that grabs this information from the referrer and puts it into an eVar?
It definitely would be possible to build a plug-in or simply use the getQueryParam plugin. Kskil, you bring up a great point that is worth reiterating. Almost everything that can be done in VISTA can be done in the JavaScript on the page. VISTA is best used to cover situations where you can not efficiently change the JavaScript or in situations where VISTA is the only system that will allow you to accomplish your objectives (such as sending encrypted data).

      Would Omniture build a plug-in?
Omniture Consulting would be the group that would build the plug-in and it would be a paid engagement. There would be no differences in the reporting, the main differences would be in how the code is handled. VISTA solution can be copied to other report suites quickly and without testing, however there is a cost. The code on the page is not as simple to move and replicate yet there is no direct cost. The only cost would be the development and testing time.

Hey guys, because you post relative links in your posts — just noticed this — the links don’t work with feedburner. If you use absolute URLs you’ll get the links working — just one of these little quirks of using feedburner to track your RSS.
Really like this — have been using a hack in Google analytics to do something similar — good to see you guys running this. Have just emailed my clients using site catalyst to get them to ‘upgrade’ to this.

Hi — How can I replicate the report that is shown in the first image of this post? The one where you have orders by Keywords broken out by search rank. I went through all the steps in this post to get the MOST value from this vista rule (capturing search rank in prop & evar, using unified sources, enabled a 5 item correlation between keyword, rank and page.…).

    Thanks
    Philip

      philip,
I believe you get the report by looking at your Unified Sources Keyword evar, pulling in the orders metric, then breaking down by Google Search Rank. Have you tried that?

Do you have any information on how to track the sitelink position for Google organic searches?
