One of the common requests from users of the Idea Exchange is to be able to get e-mail notifications when someone submits an idea that is of of relevance to them, or when someone comments on one of those ideas. That way, you don’t have to remember to log in periodically in order to vote on the latest requests—the reminders come directly to you.

I’m pleased to report that we have enabled the ability to subscribe by e-mail to topics (products) or the entire Idea Exchange feed. To subscribe, simply go to the “Idea Exchange Options” drop-down menu and choose “Subscribe.” If you do this while an individual product is selected (by clicking on that product name in the left-hand nav), you will be subscribed only to ideas involving that product.

Subscribe to ideas in the Idea Exchange

I have been using this for about a week now, and it has greatly enhanced the way I interact with customers and colleagues on the Idea Exchange. Now, instead of logging in every so often and trying to get caught up on a dozen ideas, I can check my inbox and log in only when I see something that pertains to me. If you later want to unsubscribe, you can do that from the same place in the Idea Exchange, or by opting out from within one of the e-mails you receive.

Now I’ve got a handy Outlook rule that puts all of these e-mails into a separate folder so that a.) I see them clearly when they arrive, b.) I have an easy archive of idea notifications that I can peruse or follow up on when I have time.

So go ahead: log in, subscribe, and then come back and promote the suggestions that would best solve your problems. Happy voting everyone!
