Adobe accepted an Emmy Engineering Plaque for its Adobe Pass TV Everywhere technology tonight at the 64th Primetime Emmy Engineering Awards in LA. This award recognizes Adobe’s outstanding engineering achievements in the advancement of TV Everywhere across the industry.

More than 25 top TV programmers now deliver pay-TV content through 45 sites and apps across connected devices using Adobe’s authentication service. Adobe Pass, a key component of Adobe’s Project Primetime, has become the industry leader in TV Everywhere technology in less than two years and is now supported by more than 150 US operators as they deliver hundreds of millions of authenticated streams for major live events such as The Olympic Games, March Madness, Euro Soccer Cup, NBA Playoffs and live news coverage via mobile apps from programmers like CNN. Leading media companies including Viacom, NBCU, Fox, Disney, ESPN, Cartoon Network and Scripps Networks depend on Adobe Pass for viewer authentication across more than 40 live sites and apps across desktops and mobile devices today.
Approximately 98 percent of pay TV households in the U.S. are now able to view TV content via the Adobe Pass authentication service and consumers are pushing TV Everywhere adoption to an all-time high. TV Everywhere brings the promise of your favorite content to the convenience of any device. Adobe Pass is proud to be helping the industry enable TV Everywhere strategies. Recently, the Pac-12 Network officially launched with a plethora of new and classic programing just in time to get students, alumni and fans excited for the upcoming fall sports season. The new network will broadcast 35 football games, 135+ basketball games and more than 850 total live events throughout the year. And with the help of Adobe Pass, Adobe’s authentication technology and a key component of Project Primetime, sports fans will be able to watch all the action not only on TV but also online and across devices. Adobe Pass validates a user’s pay TV credentials seamlessly and securely so fans can get to their favorite action with minimal hassle.
In addition to powering the TV Everywhere experience for top programmers such as Disney, CNN, Fox and MTV, Adobe Pass has now established itself as the leader for live sports. This year alone, Pass has powered the authentication for March Madness, the UEFA Euro 2012, NBA playoff games, and most recently, the 2012 Olympics in the US and Europe. Additionally, this Fall, pay TV subscribers who are authenticated via Pass will be able to watch live college sports online not only from the Pac-12 Network but also the Big Ten Network and the various Watch ESPN sites and apps. “TV Everywhere” is the Industry term that refers to Pay TV subscribers being able to access the same content they subscribe to through their traditional TV provider, online allowing customers to access premium TV content in web browsers, smartphones, tablets or IPTV’s. The biggest problem to date with TV Everywhere is having a system that is transparent and easy to use for customers, conforms to all of the different parties business rules, and mostly importantly – is secure. Adobe Pass solves these problems for all parties- consumers, programmers and pay TV providers alike.
Adobe has worked hard over the past year to integrate Adobe Pass with major Pay TV providers and content programmers. By providing a secure, hosted solution, Adobe ensures that both the providers and the programmers have minimal integration work to perform as they pull together their many different online viewing options.
Adobe Pass leverages the Flash Platform for a seamless high-quality experience along with Adobe Flash Access® for enhanced security. Adobe Pass also utilizes HTML5 for devices where Adobe Flash technology is not yet available.

What’s more, as you move to another site like www.tbs.com/tveverywhere, the premium contents come alive without a 2nd login. Verizon FiOS customers can also check out www.mtv.com/tve and again, the authentication will persist.
