Today, I’m happy to announce that the Enterprise Edition of Adobe Digital Publishing Suite is now shipping. Digital Publishing Suite is a set of hosted services that provide an end-to-end solution for publishers to create, distribute, monetize and optimize their publications on tablet devices. With the Enterprise Edition, publishers can integrate Digital Publishing Suite directly into backend publishing systems (including editorial publishing platforms and third party subscription systems), as well as access deep analytics powered by Omniture technology. These integrations allow publishers to customize Digital Publishing Suite to best meet their business objectives – including enabling cross-merchandising and insight into how readers interact with content and advertising. Of special note is the new Viewer Builder service that allows publishers to automatically create a publisher-branded Content Viewer, without restriction on number of apps created or the file size of the apps.
I’ve written some answers to frequently asked questions about the release of the Enterprise Edition. Read more below, and ask us questions about Enterprise Edition on Twitter @AdobeDigitalPub
What are the services shipping with Enterprise Edition?
In the Enterprise Edition, the shipping hosted services include:
- Distribution Service for the storage and fulfillment of digital issues to a wide variety of Android, iOS and RIM devices.
- Analytics Service to optimize content using a set of pre-defined analytics reports or through direct integration with an Adobe SiteCatalyst account for extended reporting and analysis
- Viewer Builder Service to preview, test and build publisher branded, signed viewers – without restriction on number of apps created or file size of the apps.
- Ecommerce Service for the sale of content through mobile marketplaces, including the Apple App Store, digital retail channels and direct publisher subscriptions

- Service fee: A fee to deliver and fulfill publications across platform and devices incurred each time a user downloads an issue of a publication.
Enterprise Edition customers can also optionally engage with Adobe Professional Services for custom implementation and training on Digital Publishing Suite. Learn more about pricing.
When will the Professional Edition be available?
The Professional Edition is a turnkey, off-the-shelf set of services for publishers who wish to immediately publish to tablet devices. Professional Edition will be available later in Q2 2011.

Hi, can I be put in contact with someone about pricing for individuals and small design firms? I am in need of this tool for making publications for the ipad, but I really can’t afford the extremely costly monthly fee of $699 and neither can my clients.
I second that!
can provide something more affordable and not monthly subscription basis please? We are small design house and the publication we are creating is not even for subscription. Its a free publication for public to download so how to justify the cost?
Hi Emily, Thanks for your interest in Digital Publishing Suite. Stay tuned for this
Michelangelo,
Did you get an answer? I was wondering the same thing! Thanks for any input, This all sounds wonderful. I have been working with the beta version and looks like I should have published a trial before last week, I wonder if it is it too late?

good !!!
We’ve received a lot of interest from small/independent publishers about using Digital Publishing Suite and are currently investigating how best to do so…unfortunately I don’t have anything new to announce right now but stay tuned to the blog and I’ll keep you up-to-date!
Agreed about the high cost and targeting of large subscription based publishers. How about a viewer and some tools so individuals or smaller developers an create mobile formatted documents to share the way Acrobat and PDF Reader work??? PDF has been enormously profitable for Adobe and I can see a market here for a multiplatform viewer to view documents created with Adobe tools.
Here also a small design firm in The Netherlands. Is there may be a tool for people like us?
Quark doens`t have a monthly fee…
I am new to all of this but am excited about a fabulous idea that I would like to share. Getting set up with a site doesn’t appear difficult but I would like assistance if at all possible to make the experience great for the targeted site. I have a few questions such as possibly an animated person(s) being featured on the site and delivering to the audience.
Really would like to hear an update on the cost of this for individuals and small firms. Please let us know.
Looks cool, but I cannot afford such a thing for my small company. I’ll stick with creating content with the standard methods for now.
Does anyone have any idea of the baseline for the custom quote for the Enterprise Edition? I know this is done on case to case basis, but has anyone been able to get a quote yet and mind sharing the general price range?
We would love to have more information, especially with regards to any options open to smaller design agencies. Are there any updates?
Are there options open to small design agencies?
We’re looking into how to best support agencies & indie publishers. Stay tuned.
I hope in a most compact version/price.
Hi – we’re investigating how best to serve independent/small publishers – stay tuned to the blog for more details!
Given the high cost, what do you recommend for individuals who are interested in building on Creative Suite skills and developing these publications? I’d like to build a proof of concept and develop a skill set around this technology.
Hi Heather, You can enroll in the prerelease program to familiarize yourself with the tools. Also, Adobe InDesign made some announcements today that you might be interested in: “Adobe InDesign is evolving to help meet your changing goals! This sneak peek shows how you can create interactivity from InDesign for documents destined for tablet devices via Adobe Digital Publishing Suite. Check it out at: http://adobe.ly/InDesignDPS.” Thanks!
My Singaporean client who publishes 6 titles of basically with luxury contents is very interested. As the designer I was assigned to research on how can we get the Enterprise Edition. I have been contacting Adobe but I got no response at all. One time, I made it to the CALLBACK service. I waited 30 mins on phone but nobody answered. We really want to publish the titles as soon as possible. How can I access Adobe people regarding this matter?
Hi Tristan, You should have received a reply from our team following the facebook comment as well. Please let us know if you were able to connect with them- Thanks
!
I’d have prospective clients who want the ability to take InDesign documents into multiple digital formats, but as a small marketing company the pricing of this suite does not make financial sense. … could you just sell pieces of this rather than the entire software, with analytics, etc.? There are probably a lot more small, independent firms than larger ones … perhaps you could make just as much with a different pricing structure??? Plus I’d say the service fee is a non-starter.
Hi Chris, Thank you for your feedback. This is something we have heard from the community and are looking into!
Is is possible that this will create a market for a 3rd party supplier[s] to provide access to the Digital Publishing Suite – in the same why that we use Pre-press houses to finalise our InDesign files for print.
Or Adobe should investigate selling the software for a one of fee [as it currently does with ALL its other products] and having a sliding scale of charges for the distribution of the resultant files. The high monthly charge won’t be acceptable for small design companies, but if it could be passed onto to the client on a project by project basis it could be more appropriate for the small businesses model.
We’re investigating a variety of pricing models including those for small/independent publishers and agencies who engage on a client-by-client basis. Stay tuned.
Monthly pricing is a hard deal for smaller agencies/creative studios to serve our clients with
contemporary media solutions on iPad and similar devices. You will miss a lot of valuable supporters who can help to bring Digital Publishing Suite fast forward. At the moment it seems we are excluded and not desired as partners….
Please rethink and add an realistic and acceptable pricing model also for small creative .
Thanks.
Hi there, we hear you and appreciate your thoughts. Be sure to check the latest blog posts we just published today for the latest scoop: http://blogs.adobe.com/digitalpublishing/2011/04/pro-edition-pricing.html. Thanks for sharing your feedback with us.
Any further news on the pricing model for small agencies who may want to produce relatively small digital publishing jobs for several clients.
Hi Mick, we just announced an updated pricing model with a lower platform fee, which you can learn more about at: http://blogs.adobe.com/digitalpublishing/2011/04/pro-edition-pricing.html. Thanks!
Dont sweat it – it is far from prime time. Have you seen the demo videos of the steps required to get a simple InDesign doc to an Ipad? This needs another 12 months in the oven.
We are Digital Agency creating and distributing ebooks on ePub, Mobipocket and PDF. We operate in the UK and Brazil.
We would like to discuss purchasing the Digital Publishing Professional solution to distribute our ebooks via tablets.
We appreciate if someone can get in touch to discuss our options.

What about educational discounts? We are very interested in developing our magazine into a tablet format for our students and alumni.
I am in the military and we i as a student i purchase my Master collection in dec for school and your new version was released Mar 11. I use the adobe master collection for school and also to volunteer for especial functions on base. I was very excited with you digital publishing i thought i was able to get a complimentary upgrade. but when i check you customer service department were rude and hung up on me. I was wondering if there is a time limit when i can get a complimentary upgrade. this software is very expensive and i cant see buying this upgrade for another 599. i just bought it. is there a way i can get a waiver or something. digital publishing would be great tool i can use when creating work for my soldiers to use on there digital media. please advise of what i can do.
Hi there, Sorry for your bad experience with CS. You can create, test and share a .folio file using the Folio Producer Tools in InDesign CS5.5 (ID is included in MC). To publish to a tablet device or marketplace requires purchase of DPS. Hope that helps; thanks for reaching out here on our blog!
I’ve been an avid user of Adobe products for 17 years….. I’m very disappointed to find out that CS5.5 Design Premium, as an upgrade from CS5, doesn’t include all the tools necessary (content bundler) to move content to tablets devices… I’ve searched all tutorial videos that I could find on your site and no where does it say a user must pay additional for the digital publishing suite. All the demos make it appear that InDesign CS5.5 had the tools that were shown in the videos.
Allen Wynar
Hey Allen, It’s great to hear that you have been a long-time customer of Adobe. We appreciate you reaching out here on our blog with your question. You can create a .folio using the tools in InDesign CS5.5. To publish a digital document to a market place and/or tablet device requires the purchase of Digital Publishing Suite.
I teach a publication class f the semester be print and the second half use this software. Help with educational pricing? 30 kids, 4 months.
Hi Laurie, Please submit a sales inquiry to dmpsales@adobe.com. Or consult the list of DPS reseller partners at http://www.adobe.com/products/digitalpublishingsuite/partners. Thanks for asking!
I’m interested in the Pro Edition. When does that ship? Also after handing over the .folio file do I then receive a homescreen button for the app? How does that part of the process work?
Thanks!
Hi Jason, The Professional Edition of Digital Publishing Suite is currently available for purchase. DPS is a set of hosted services and viewer technology. After you purchase DPS you have access to the Viewer Builder service which you can use to create a branded content viewer which is then submitted to a market place such as Apple App Store. Hope that helps!
I have created some digital magazine by using adobe indesign CS5.5.
Does anyone know how to put it in App Store?
Hi there
We’re months on from the “just watch this space!!!” replies saying that Adobe’s working out pricing or something for small businesses… Where is this update? Feels like wall of Adobe silence to me…
Hi Rupert, Thanks for reaching out to us here. We have definitely heard the feedback from our customers asking for smaller business options and our teams have been hard at work tracking these comments and working on Digital Publishing Suite enhancements and offerings. We’ll share any updates as soon as they are available, so thanks for checking in with us and being patient!
Hi, I just wanted to know if there’s gonna be some DPS available for small/indie publications, since I have a project on my mind to start a new publication only for digital devices but cannot afford the DPS actual prices!
Hi Carlos, Thanks for reaching out with this question. We have heard the many requests for this and it is definitely on our radar. Our teams have been hard at work, so stay tuned for updates!
Thanks!
like
is there a way we can receive an email notification when the pricing models are made public for small design facilities? … TIA -dan
Hi Dan, Stay tuned for any announcements. We will share announcements here, on our facebook, twitter, and of course at our adobe.com page. Thanks
why don’t you charge us the digital publishing suit like any other adobe products and charge us an annual fee like mobile.me account which is profitable and reasonable for both adobe and small design firms like us? You know you are going to lose us if some other digital publishing plugins are available anytime soon.
Can i create a single .folio viewer iPad app using the subscription version of cs5 DPS ?.
I have a .folio file that is an interactive product instruction manual, and i need to be able to publish it as a standalone iPad app.
Thanks
What is the ETA on whether Adobe will support smaller publishers with DPS? For every Digitas and Wired, there are, presumably, hundreds of freelancers, small agencies, and independent publishers that have been loyal to Adobe and rely on your tools. Please let us know if a DPS solution will be available soon, or if we need to look at alternatives.
Hi Rene, We have been very hard at work over here and have some exciting updates to share soon! Stay tuned for these announcements!
Rene, Also- We really appreciate our loyal customers and the support & patience. So we sincerely THANK YOU for that!
too expensive. QUARK DOESN’T HAVE MONTHLY FEE
I created an account for free in Acrobat. But Im not able to test my single .folio
When I try to login in DPS shows the message: “You do not have access to the Digital Publishing Suite.” Why this is happen? I just want to test my .folio in Ipad…
Hey Lucas, Our experts can help you best at the DPS forums- http://forums.adobe.com/community/dps. Please bring your questions over there for help
Thanks for reaching out!
Hi, we were working with a pre release account for the publication of our small sales sheets with about 15 sales representatives.
.
Since 3th of august we are no longer able to provide new files to the guis
For 15 people and 8 to 10 issues per year we are not able to pay 350€ per month plus service fee.
It’s very urgent for us to have a small business solution for using the DPS! Are there any news?
Thank you,
Philipp
Hey Phillipp, We hear you! All we can say for now is that we have heard many requests for a small business solution for DPS. Stay tuned for some exciting announcements… soon!
hola
Hello everyone. Im from Southamerica, and since I saw Martha Stewart magazine i get crazy. I would love to know if you steel have for free the demo version. My monthly salary is $500 dollars aprox, and its definitely unaffordable this price. Theres any way to have the program in a low price, its gonna be a sale some day? Because I have to consider the time its going to take me study the and learn the program. Thank you in advance.
:=)
Quark has just released its APP publishing tools as part of their current version (9.1). I never thought I’d consider moving to Quark, but if Adobe does not provide a reasonable tool for design agencies very soon, we’ll have to consider this option. Come On Adobe, you should have taken the lead on this! My studio is over 30 years old. We have used InDesign since its first release.
Hi Eileen, Thanks for sharing your thoughts here. We have some exciting news to share very soon.. so stay tuned
Our teams have been hard at work and listening to all these comments and thoughts. Great to hear you have been with InDesign since its first release, too!
Herewith another long time customer who is anxious to work with school students producing small scale interactive magazines.
Please, please expedite this!
It was So disappointing these tools were not available for reasonable pricing at the outset.
We would have been very willing to purchase.
Hi David, Thanks for sharing. Our teams have been hard at work.. stay tuned for some exciting news very soon
As an enthusiastic upgrader to CS5.5, I was eager to start building digital content for tablets. Then after several ours of diving into the tools and taking a course on lynda.com, I realised there is no way to publish without a (for me as a single designer in a small market) completely unrealistic monthly price tag. Where did this say in the promotion material for the CS5.5 upgrade? I got the impression that all the tools to publish were on board CS5.5, and I feel very disappointed at the moment. That new pricing model is deeply needed for me and many more!
Hi Elrek, Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We have some exciting news to share very soon.. so stay tuned
Hi! Bro my phone can load load Flash player
The cost of 699.00 is just I think out of line. I love and have enjoyed Adobe Products over the years. But sad to say I will not be enjoying this one.
Thanks for your feedback, Lyn. We’re working on our offerings and will be sharing updates soon!
I am basically looking for a programe that will assist me in my endevours right a book, can assist with spell check, arrange page set up as in publishing form, and any other benifit that can assist with this process ,I am a first time auther, Has adobe got such a programe.

Hi John, To understand what Adobe Digital Publishing Suite offers, you can check out this page: http://www.adobe.com/products/digitalpublishingsuite/features/. You might want to check out our other products at: http://www.adobe.com/. Thanks for reaching out!
Can you create a .folio without publishing it to a market place and then view it locally on tablet device without purchasing Digital Publishing Suite.
All I want to do is create several work and turn Ipad folios to show of personal work.
Hi Nigel, Bring your question over to: http://forums.adobe.com/community/dps. The team can help you there! Thanks for reaching out.
It seems a lot of us have been asking about the small business firm since March. Is there still no update? Or are we to find other ways of getting our publications to the tablet market?
Hi Michael, We have definitely heard these requests and have some exciting announcements coming up soon! Stay tuned for what those might be
I must say that the future of publication and marketing relation between user and publisher will move to digital Realm. A Place where interation is “on the fly”… the feedback from both parts is instantaneous also the need to share Visual and Content Worth is higher.
Analysing the evolution of that i also see that theres more proximity in “marketing”. You talk directly with The brand… not with his campaign created for 1009585690230 Persones.
Almost Comunication 1vs1.
Thank you adobe to publish this app. And your contribute will be immense for the evolution i depicted (you capitalize all the best appz in the world involved to maximize it. Your insight is crucial).
The big problem on that is: the immense exclusivity you are applying on this service. The Increase growth of Indie Projects is contributing for the conscience towards “close relation from publisher to reader”.
I double sign carlos alfaro, when he is asking for more attention for indie publishers.
what is the cost for buying Adobe digital publishing suite
