<News from Adobe for Manufacturing>

Adobe made two announcements last week that will be of interest to engineering and manufacturing firms.  On September 25, Adobe Unveiled the Technical Communication Suite.  The Adobe® Technical Communication Suite software is a first-of-a-kind, integrated solution for authoring, managing, and publishing technical information and training content across multiple formats and languages including 3D content.

On Friday September 28th  Adobe delivered a new developer site and program, which will be known as the Adobe Develop Connection or ADC.  The ADC is the next generation of what has been known as the Adobe Developer Center.  The ADC will serve as a portal for professionals who code web, desktop and mobile applications, interactive experiences as well as use our SDKs.  It includes technical articles, samples, code, as well as a way for developers to connect with each other.

Adobe Communication Suite

On September 25, Adobe Unveiled the Technical Communication Suite.  The Adobe® Technical Communication Suite software is a first-of-a-kind, integrated solution for authoring, managing, and publishing technical information and training content across multiple formats and languages. Using the Adobe Technical Communication Suite, technical communicators and instructional designers can create powerful documentation, eLearning courses and user assistance programs containing both traditional text and graphics along with rich media, including Adobe Flash® Player compatible video and 3D.

The suite includes Adobe RoboHelp® 7, a major upgrade to Adobe’s help system and knowledge base authoring tool, as well as Adobe FrameMaker® 8, Adobe Captivate® 3 and Adobe Acrobat® 3D Version 8 software. Product and workflow integration and support for rich media formats — including Adobe Flash Player compatible video, SWF, MP3 and AVI files as well as industry standards, such as Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF), XML and Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) — empower authors to deliver compelling information, save time and reduce discrepancies in content.

Adobe Manufacturing Early Fall 2007

There is nothing we like better than meeting with our customers.  Bring your business process and technical questions.  The Adobe Manufacturing Business Development Team will be on the road at several events meeting with customers. We have a lot to talk about and show you.  Read the full article to see where we will be and please plan to drop by.

Where did the Summer go?

On the Road Again:

The fall will be a busy time for the Adobe Manufacturing Team.  It is always a pleasure to meet new and prospective customers.  Several very interesting initiatives grew out of meetings at various events around the country in the spring and early summer.  We have been hard at work with our customers and some consortiums as well.  While I can’t talk about anything now, there will be some very interesting news we think, going forward, concerning PDF and Acrobat 3D as the standard for data sharing and interoperability.

Some stops in the next few weeks:

Next week, Jim Merry and I will be in Los Angeles for the SAE Aerotech conference and exposition:

SAE 2007 AeroTech Congress & Exhibition

September 17 – 20, 2007
Los Angeles Convention Center
Los Angeles, California, USA

This should be a great conference.  Jim is speaking on the 18th… I am sure there will not be a dry eye in the place!

After that, it’s off to Chicago for National Manufacturing Week:

September 24-27, 2007

Donald E. Stephens Convention Center
5555 N. River Road
Rosemont (Chicago), IL 60018

Both Jim and I will be there for this show, too.

On October 1-2 I will be at COE Auto in Detroit:

Be sure to join me for the Breakfast and learn session on October 2nd. I will discuss and demonstrate Acrobat 3D and related  topics in depth.  Be prepared with your questions.

Bring your questions:

As I said, there is nothing we like better than meeting with our customers.  Bring your business process and technical questions. I am looking forward to seeing you.
