Customizing Spry widgets

It’s easy enough to insert Spry widgets in Dreamweaver, but customizing them is another matter. Surprisingly, there are not a great number of resources out there that show folks how to customize Spry widgets. Below are some of the more popular and useful ones that might help you get to where you want to go.
Spry widget samples (ADOBE)
Code and styling samples of all of the Adobe Spry widgets, directly from the Adobe Spry team.
Customizing Spry Menu Bars in Dreamweaver (JUST DREAMWEAVER)
Resource page offering various Spry Menu Bar information available out on the Web.

Video series showing how to insert and modify a Sliding Panels widget.
Tabbed Panels and Menu Bar widgets: Dreamweaver CS3 (PEACHPIT PRESS)
Basic tutorial on inserting and styling Tabbed Panels and Menu Bar widgets.
Spry Validation widgets (LAYERS MAGAZINE)
Video tutorial on inserting and styling Spry form validation widgets.
Building Spry pages visually (ADOBE)
The Dreamweaver Help system. Each widget contains a customization section, which links out to the larger Spry Developer’s Guide.

  • This is all fine and great. But seeing as how it’s been a year and a half since you bothered updating the framework most devs using the tech have learned most of what we need from it. And have begun moving to other frameworks as Adobe is not keeping up with the AJAX medium. Hence the lack of 3rd Party SPRY Resources.
If the Developers of the framework are not going to keep it current why should any 3rd party?
This is getting OLD. The SPRY group (yes – I know it’s an extension of the DW Team) said they’d be doing something after they got finished with CS4 – last year. Well – CS4 has been out for a while and nothing from anyone.

  • You guys should look into adding this to DW:

  • I am on board with Billy Bob … is there any news on spry for CS5?

  • I am working with the Spry Tabbed Panels widget in Dreamweavder CS4 and I want to create a 2 columns VERICAL tabs. Can this be done? I can create 2 rows of horizontal tabs, but my design works best with the tabs to the right on teh content panel.

  • Oh my goodness! a tremendous article dude. Thanks However I am experiencing problem with ur rss . Don’t know why Unable to subscribe to it. Is there anyone getting equivalent rss downside? Anyone who knows kindly respond. Thnkx

Yes, doors are of different kinds that make the home attractive and beautiful, but all have same purpose of safety. The wooden doors are always for home’ safety and make a good impression in front of special one.
