Fireworks CS5 post-launch news

We’ve posted a new mobile workflows article on the Adobe Developer Connection featuring Fireworks CS5 and Adobe Device Central. Liz Myers, mobile and web-based application specialist, walks you through some very cool techniques for previewing your work on mobile devices that will inspire you to try it yourself. Her article is full of screen shots and includes 3 video demos.
Update: Jim Babbage (@JimBabbage), has written a new free CMX article about FXG 2.0 support in Fireworks CS5, with good general information on FXG workflows.
It is still early, but the CS5 reviews are beginning to trickle in, and I wanted to share a couple of new reviews that we’ve seen for Fireworks CS5:
MacWorld magazine recently completed their review of Adobe Fireworks CS5, awarding it 4.5 mice! Thanks MacWorld!
Smashing Magazine muses over whether it is worth switching to Fireworks CS5. Spolier – it is.
Have you tried Fireworks CS5 yet? If not, what are you waiting for?

January 30, 2009 and Fireworks CS4

Ruth Kastenmayer and John Champion wrote an informative article on the Adobe developer center! The article describes the wonderful learning experience technology brings to all areas of K-12 education from reading to science to special education. And in this case how Fireworks CS4 PDF export integrates with With Adobe Fireworks the learning curve is super small, I’ve been able to teach hardcore coders how to use Fireworks in less than 20 minutes. Give them a couple hours and they feel like a pro! I can only imagine what someone in elementary could do with Fireworks…thanks Ruth and Chris for the eye opener and showing us a new workflow between Fireworks and!

Fireworks CS4 AIR based Backup Utility

Check out the Adobe Fireworks Auto Backup application at the AIR exchange/marketplace. This is a great addition to your aresenal if you are like me and experience the occasional blackout (Seems to happen constantly in my building in San Francisco) or you did something that Fireworks didnt like and crashes on you.

The biggest reason why I find myself using this application is when I am at the "Port of Indecision" and constantly making changes/iterations and wish I could go back to "n" file and grab those enhancements since I deleted them in the current file. If this happens then you’ll be saved since the utility will backup your document in case you need to fall back on it…phew!

Before using this app I had developed a keen sense of consistently saving after each major iteration on the design and now I dont need to worry about it! I’ll also mention if you are working on super large documents (containing more than 50-200 pages or have a large canvas size) this feature may not work for you since saving may take longer than normal. This app takes advantages of Fireworks synchronous save feature available in CS4 where saving the file doesnt stop you from working since saving happens in the background.
