Adobe Stock Photos Uninstaller

In case you didn’t hear, Adobe has decided to discontinue the Stock Photos aspect of Bridge CS3. With iStockphoto, I’m not surprised. So if you’d like to uninstall it, you might check out the following links:

Adobe Stock Photos Win:

I don’t think this is something you have to run out and do immediately, but if you’re like me who likes to keep his computer as tidy as is reasonably possible, then you’ll run it sometime when it’s convenient.

Update 2-28-08: I’ve run the uninstaller and it worked like a charm but others have told me it doesn’t go away. Another option that you can do is go to Preferences>Startup Scripts and deselect the Adobe Stock Photos option. Restart Bridge and Stock Photos should be gone!

Comments

I’ve tried a few times to run this deinstall patcher, and it keeps saying my Stock Photos needs to be updated, and then it installs dozens of little files. This is after doing a brand new install of CS3. I read that you have to enable Bridge > Prefs > Scripts > Stock Photos, but that didn’t help either. Any idea what’s up?

[DR - Trish, I will look into it and try to get back to you.]

I don’t think it is supposed to remove the Stock Photo Folder & app, just the references to it in Bridge, InDesign and Illustrator. If it’s not in your menus, it’s done its job:

Why should I run the Adobe Stock Photos uninstaller?
Running the Adobe Stock Photos uninstaller will remove Adobe Stock Photos from the Adobe Bridge environment within your CS2 and CS3 applications. This will streamline your workflow by removing functionality that is no longer operational like Get Price & Keyword, Find Similar/Keywords, Add to Cart, and Purchase This Image found within Adobe Bridge CS3, Bridge CS2, Adobe InDesign® CS3, and Adobe Illustrator® CS3.
What happens if I choose not to run the Adobe Stock Photos uninstaller?
If you choose not to run the uninstaller, you will continue to see Adobe Stock Photos in Bridge, but will be unable to purchase images from the service after March 31, 2008.
If I run the Adobe Stock Photos uninstaller and then later have to reinstall a Creative Suite 2 or Creative Suite 3 edition or standalone application, what will happen?
When you reinstall your applications, Adobe Stock Photos will reinstall within Bridge. You will need to run the Adobe Stock Photos uninstaller again to remove the service.
