Frequency Space Editing on Acoustic Guitar

Frank Moldstad has another tutorial up on Digital Media Net, this time covering how he used the Frequency Space Editing tools in 2.0 to remove some squeaks and fret noise from a guitar recording. It’s another nice how-to with a good number of screen shots, so if you’re interested in some tips on how to tackle removing this sort of thing from your recordings you should check it out. It’s posted right here.

Hi,

I too use Adobe Audition and was having similar questions as the above poster. I would also be intersted in reading some guides or tutorials that goes go over specific functions in the program if anybody has any on hand. Thanks in advance.

Nice tutorial. I use the older version of Adobe Audition (Cool Edit - before it was purchased and rebranded by Adobe), but most of the tips here work just the same. I had been having trouble trying to incorporate a good, crisp acoustic guitar sound into my mix, but this seems to have helped a great a deal. Are there any similar tutorials out there that might offer some different techniques? It never hurts to try a couple variations on how you approach the EQ, panning, dynamics etc. of the track. Here's another good article that gives the basics of acoustic guitars for any newbies out there reading this. It goes over basic tuning, scales, gives a bit of info on Acoustic Guitar magazine as well as other topics. It's a good beginners resource for anyone in need for that sort of thing. Enjoy and thanks again for the tutorial!
