Audition a Favorite for Voiceovers
A recent survey run on www.voiceoversavvy.com and sponsored by Voice123 showed that a majority of voiceover artists use Audition for their work. What's most interesting to me is that they say that Audition was preferred by 27% of respondents, but down the list they also say that Cool Edit Pro was preferred by 14%. If we hadn't changed the name we'd be at 41% of respondents, with the next highest at 16%! We're constantly talking to customers about how Audition (and Cool Edit) turn up everywhere, but since it's often hard to point to specific numbers seeing independent surveys like this is fun. As they say, Rock 'n Roll!

Hello,
Yes, there are a lot of features in Audition that would be very useful in Soundbooth,
simple things like running multiple instances of Soundbooth at the same time, e.g. applying an effect on one file and editing another.
Also, making tracks for a CD, in Soundbooth you have to make loops...in Audition you can make markers that have length (distance) and batch process them.
Also when positioning the cursor to put the marker it snaps to the exact spot whereas in Soundbooth it's not exact.
In Soundbooth the cursor is not in sync with audio waveform, makes editing difficult. [Cursor drags behind waveform.]
These are some things to consider for future updating of Soundbooth...
or else making Audition available for Mac's.
But Audition needs features that are in Soundbooth;
Like, Audition doesn't a have history panel, Soundbooth does. Audition doesn't have preview of entire file above view area. Audition doesn't have spectral and wavefom views @ same time, you must toggle. Although adaptive noise reduction in Audition is impressive.

Mr. Linder I would love to discuss in further detail some of the issues that you have had with Audition/Vista.

Dear Hart (or dearheart!)
Your note about the voting on Voice 123 was quite right, and a very impressive result!
What many of us voice artists are patiently waiting for, though, is a MAC version of Audition. Many of us use Mac's for our voice work/editing, but can't use the popular Audition programme as it's only for PC's.
When can we expect the Mac version???
Best regards,
Lesley
Unfortunately, as frequent readers will already know, I'm not able to talk about future versions and features. However, I do know that Audition seems to run well under Boot Camp on the Intel-based Macs. I even get good results running it under Parallels if all I need is the built-in I/O hardware! Not perfect, but it's a step! (Maybe?)--Hart

so when really are going to get the vista friendly version of audition ive been waiting for it for a while no lie i was addicted to cool edit but now im behind on my recording because adobe decided to leave one of there main programs un updated :(
We've announced that we'll have more to say about the next Audition later this year, and the next Audition will be fully Vista native, but unfortunately I can't say more until then. Note that most functions of Audition 2 do work under Vista but are just incompatible with Aero

So when can we expect a Vista-friendly version of Audition? One where the transport, zoom, selection and time tool boxes don't change dimension when the screen is reduced to anything less than full-screen? One in which the effects rack selection indicator window doesn't vanish at normal track height?
Those of us who've watched Adobe swallow up Flash, Cool Edit and Ultra 2 can't wait for the snake to finish digesting and Adobefying a perfectly good program into one that's suddenly buggy.
One step forward, two steps back.

I'm not surprised. I guess you could say I've been part of the Cool Edit/Audition street team since about '97... Handing out Shareware and tryout versions to my geeky friends and those interested in pro recording...
There should really be a movie or something called "From CE to AA" ;p but I guess that's something for the video department at Adobe... Maybe they could get "Brad Pitt" to play me ;)
Thanks for your street team contributions! But I'm not sure we can secure Mr. Pitt's services. Will give it a shot, though. :) --Hart

Hmm... there's actually a good source of data about who's searching for what on the internet relating to audio software, and this consistently has Audition very highly placed - in third place overall. What I mean by consistent is that I've been checking this periodically for over a year, and the placing hasn't changed. You may look at it here. It's also worth noting the link at the bottom of the page (to here) about software supposedly in transition to realise just how much the rest of the world either hasn't assimilated the change in name from Cool Edit to Audition, or is still using Cool Edit anyway. Currently that page indicates that there are more people searching for Cool Edit information than for Audition!
