Apps on Vista

Apps on Vista: Information Week again, agitating some in the blogosphere, suggesting that the fact that the list of Vista-Certified applications is not yet complete is due to competitive pressures and businessplace drama. But it's actually a normal situation. Pretty much every major operating system change breaks some existing apps, and it takes awhile for them to adapt... same thing has been happening with Intel-based Macs, and will likely happen later this year with the Leopard OS. Adobe Support's Vista Support FAQ [PDF] is the best guide to expected schedules for Vista-specific changes to existing software. Apple, IBM and Adobe all have self-interest in serving their customers who migrate to the new operating system.
