Spot effects
Spot effects: This Washington Post article is a snark attack on Microsoft's SPOT watches, but what struck me was this observation on how the technology implementation affected the actual user experience: "This IV drip of news brought some unpleasant real-world side effects. After a week, I realized that it was turning me into a selfish jerk who kept looking down at his watch in mid-conversation every time some new tidbit flashed across its face." Visualizing how an application will work in its eventual social setting may be harder work than just figuring out how to code something cool...?
