Japanese Typography on Web

Japanese Typography on Web: Chris Palmieri offers something I haven't seen before -- practical info for designers when using Japanese text. How does kerning compare in Japanese and English? Which fonts can you expect in a web browser? How does dynamic text in Flash differ across the two languages? The second part gets into questions like "What is the emotional context for English in Japanese? Should menu systems be in characters, syllabary, or English? How is CSS best handled in Japanese web pages?" Cool extra: analphabetic characters found in Japanese typefaces... their quotation marks and other symbols are richer than what we see in English.
