Spam vs search & blog vendors

Spam vs search & blog vendors: Ben Trott of Six Apart writes of conversations between search engine vendors and blog vendors of ways to kill off various types of blogspam. There seems to be consensus around adding "rel='nofollow'" to anchor tags in comment fields... seems to have started with Google, and Yahoo and MSN will apparently respect this convention too. There's a Movable Type plugin already available. (I've got a whole bunch of trackbacks overnight promising "prom dresses", how I wish there was a Carrie-style plugin for MT.... ;-)
