"Yodaís Syntax Corrected They Have"
Yoda's Syntax Corrected They Have: Off-topic, but I was intrigued by reports of movie translations in China's western frontier... Yoda usually talks with the verb at the end of the sentence, like in Japanese, Korean or Turkish (see Wikipedia). We can make sense of such phrases in English, even though they sound weird. But with the homophones in Chinese, it's apparently difficult to reverse word order like that, so he ended up talking in normal Chinese. (Hey, there's all varieties of geek talk, y'know. ;-) You might also be interested in these screen captions from the film. Unfortunately I don't remember how I found these links, which when I think of it is probably just as well for all of us.... ;-)
