Macromedia Longhorn
Macromedia Longhorn: News to me... Microsoft's Longhorn/Avalon rollouts last year, showing the future operating system, were apparently actually Macromedia Director projects. I'm not sure how the writer knows this, although it has been reported by others in the past. (Prototyping in a rapid, high-level environment makes a lot of sense... easier to do user testing on various designs when each design costs less to make. This is even happening with mobile phones: when a game's audience includes low-end phones that cannot support Flash, the development and testing is still done in Flash, with the final approved design then being exported to low-cost Java programmers for delivery to low-end phones which only support J2ME. Cheaper to develop in Flash than Java.)
