Narayan on Apollo
Narayen on Apollo: Digital World Tokyo has a short video with Shantanu Narayen, Adobe president and COO, about the universal client project. About halfway through he talks about the incremental feedback process, and working with increasingly larger test groups as development matures. Towards the end I liked watching how he expressed the idea that the we'll likely first see current browser-style apps take advantage of the persistence and synch of out-of-the-browser execution, but that new apps will be built beyond that, new types of applications -- when PostScript was introduced people couldn't imagine how it would eventually be used, and the Universal Client is a broad enabling technology too. "We fully envision that Apollo will create and generate an entire new set of applications that you or I haven't even imagined yet." He has a gleam in his eye in this last part, check it out.
