To view the LAB color values of an image (instead of the RGB values), in Develop Module, Control -click (Mac) | Right Mouse -click (Win) on the Histogram  and choose Show Lab Color Values. Then, position your cursor over the image preview and the values will be displayed as a LAB color readout.

For me, the most difficult thing about Photoshop is matching what I see on my screen to what my lab prints. Since I love adding creative effects, I often don’t get what I see. Yes, I calibrate, etc. but results are not always consistent. Getting accurate colors are the most frustrating thing about digital. Would love to see a mode that automatically gives LAB colors or at least the ability to roll mouse over image to see how the colors will print out.

When would you use this? It looks interesting and the only thing I have ever read about using LAB colors is for sharpening.
