In this episode of The Complete Picture (How to Use Lightroom 5 On Location), Julieanne demonstrates how to create a “template” catalog on the computer that she uses on-location. Then, she shows how to retain all of the edits made to images while in the field (including collections, virtual copies, ratings, saved output projects, etc.) by merging the on-location catalog with her master catalog upon return.

First, Thank You! Couldn’t get my show parent folder on LR5 CC. Can you go over that again sometime.

    Thanks!

If you right mouse click (or Control click on the mac) on the topmost folder that you can see in the Library panel and choose Show Parent Folder LR should add it…

    Excellent episode; thank you!

If I might ask a question: In your creativeLIVE course, you mention that the history is not imported. Does this mean that one loses the nondestructive ability to undo changes, and that the image is “frozen” at import, with all previous changes set as the base image, and only future edits in the master catalog will be nondestructive?

ou can always reset any of the sliders that you have changed, or all of them using the Reset button. What you lose is the ability to see what steps you went through in what order. (but you can always see the final slier positions in the Develop Module.
