I want Lightroom to recognize the external hard drive so that I can make more room available on my internal drive by taking these images off. Can it be done? Using Mac OS. By Julieanne Kost - 5:11 AM on August 18, 2015 Import the files from the external drive. By Mike - 1:40 PM on August 18, 2015 Using the method you presented on copying files and folders to an external hard drive, I decided to move all the folders from the internal drive to the external drive avoiding the necessity to re-import all these photos. It seems to be working fine. This will take a little while but probably shorter than importing. It also has the benefit of allowing me to decide whether to keep a folder of images no longer needed or wanted. When I import new photos they will go on the external drive. I always backup my photos to another external drive. Thanks for your help.
