Breadcrumbs...

Hello my friends! Well, Greg, Ruf & I are now back in München, and quite a 36 hours it has been.

This post, unlike any other, will detail the sometimes 'strange goings-on' in the world of traveling evangelists; it also highlights the good of man that still exists in the world (and once again, re-affirms my love for Europe)

Now, I had mentioned in one of the previous blogs that we did an 'on camera' interview with Create or Die. At the end, they had me play some music, but sadly, the guitar was out of tune. Cut to yesterday's chaos Which I'll detail in a moment), and I was feeling rather blue (though, still Zen!)... So, I dug up this little test recording (done on my older Nikon camera, a short while ago) where I did a little number from The Doors...Blue Sunday. It seemed appropriate at this time:

For starters, it all began yesterday morning, upon leaving Köln. As reported, it was a big, big day (and thanks to EVERYONE who submitted comments! It's been incredible reading all of your feedback! Really, from the bottom of my heart, Danke für alles). But, as is often the case (especially when we're doing 6+ hour seminars everyday, in a different city), there's not a lot of sleeping happening. As such, I woke up Friday, had my usual Berocca (see: life saver from Sweden & UK) and went to make coffee in the room. It was one of those snazzy 'Nespresso-like' machines (but *not* the Nespresso machine, which I know very well). Anyway, my attempts failed, and I could only guess that the machine was broken. Fair enough; but let it be known, *this* evangelist WITHOUT COFFEE early in the morning is, well, a slightly less chipper person! LOL. No joke. That's what I get for living in Seattle for several years. Starbucks Addict. But of course, with my love for Swedish, Dutch and German coffee, it's a whole new level of coffee drinking these days! (quad venti lattes are just the appetizer!)

Ok, so with no coffee, no breakfast, and no time to waste (as I was meeting Greg & Rufus, grabbing a taxi and heading to the airport) I wound up NOT doing my usual 'room checks', and basically bolted out of the room, leaving behind my black scarf. Now, this is not exactly 'tragic'...but it's a first. A first in many, many years. And, the worst part? I knew I had left it the moment we got into the taxi; and the *second* worst part? I had left it in the closet. Ok, so an unwritten (but widely known) evangelist rule: you simply DO NOT use a closet if you're in a hotel room less than 5 days. Period. Again, I was sleep, food, and coffee deprived. There you go. BAH!

Alrighty, so in an effort to wrap this up, let's just say that *that* episode set the tone for the rest of the day/evening. When night time arrived (and we were safely in Munich) we decided to get dinner at a familiar haunt of Greg's (Zur Braz'n on Leopoldstrasse) and followed that with another familiar place, the Shamrock Irish Pub (on Trautenwolfstrasse). I've been there many times before with Greg, and the place just rocks...literally. And they've got live music on the weekends, which, seeing as this was our first day off since the start of the tour, we were in desperate need of. So, a rocking band (with a totally rocking bass player!) and flowing Guinness, and life was, well, groovy...

...until Greg looked over at the bar-stools where we'd been sitting/standing and noticed that my jacket had suddenly disappeared. Gone. Missing. Taken. ARGH! and (expletive!)!!!#$@. I can honestly say, I've never bolted out of place so fast, trying to find someone outside, in the hallway, stairwell, all to no avail. The jacket had been taken, and was gone. It was at this point that I implemented my most Zen-like meditation abilities, and basically 'let it go' (it'll keep you living longer, you know!). So yeah, it sucked, but so be it. All in all, I had a pack of gum, several packs of earplugs (always carry them, 'cause the ears need to be in good shape for mixing, you know!) and about 10-15euros in coins stuck in the pockets. Worse things have happened. I let the guys at the bar know, and figured, that was the end of my navy-blue pea coat.

So, cut to today, and it's actually warm (with 'Blue' skies! alright..enough Blue references; I promise!). Not warm enough for 'no jacket', but warm enough to walk a few kilometres to the local shopping street and pick-up a new one...and a new scarf. Life was again good, and hey, that's the way it is, sometimes...right??

WELL...here's where the good part comes: we wound up heading back to the Shamrock for a brief Guinness (and a listen to this evening's band; a trad. Irish folk group) and lo and behold, I got the attention of the bartender. Within seconds, he remembered me and said, "Oh, hang on just a minute...Navy Blue Coat, right?" And YES, meine freunde, it was my coat!! It had been returned. AND THAT'S DARNED COOL! I mean, seriously, so, so cool. So cool, in fact, that I simply had to blog about it. ;)

So there you have it. 'Goodness of man' exemplified. All I can really say is, "Thank you" to whomever brought the coat back, a big thanks to the Shamrock, and of course...

Ich Liebe München! ;) (yes, I have limited phrases in German, but I *mean* them when I say them!)

This has really been quite the 'Magical Mystery Tour' (to quote the fave Beatles tune) and it's not over yet! So with that, I figured an appropriately-branded T-shirt pic was in order

Beatlejase, living the Magical Mystery Tour, indeed!

And of course, no 'Blue Sunday' anymore, though I still love that song. Hope you do too...

So, until next time,

Blog on.

Hi Jason,

i was on the Adobe Master Tour in Frankf. I was the gray hair guy, that ask you about the limitation of fivehundred frames for video working in photoshop. Maybe you remember me. So, my problem is you show OnLocation on a mac power book under Mac OS X. After the show on next day i will buy the Update to the Master Collection eith these programms. But now adobe told me that OnLocation is only available on Windows. HHHääää! I think it can´t be the truth!!!! Do you know when OnLocation is available for MAC. I still wait for some information. Hello Ralf. Indeed, I was running OnLocation on the MacBookPro...but it was running in Vista under 'Boot Camp' as you may recall. Unfortunately, no MAC version of OL just yet, but it's definitely been a huge request ever since premiering as part of CS3. Let me know if you have any other questions, and all the best. --JL
