Masters in Singapore; KL Awaits
Hello, my friends! Writing a quick blog post from the stage, live in Singapore. ;) Once again, a great turnout and a great crowd. I really have to commend all the (Adobe Asia) teams for choosing and filling great venues. Very cool atmosphere and design in this one (with a huge 'Adobe Masters Tour' poster behind us, on the stage).
An non-stitched pano of the venue--the 480 attendees were in three sections, and the original panorama stitch didn't really do it justice...so this is just the sections, color corrected and put together

As for the events of the day, we conducted a slightly different program today. We did the usual workflow preso in the morning, clocking in around 2:45, and featuring all three of us. In the afternoon, however, the sessions were to be 1:30hr each, Design followed by Web followed by Video...but then, computer gremlins struck!!
Yes, it's a fact: we present and demo on these machines every day, launching, re-launching, loading, re-loading, shutdown, restart, sleep, etc...and I think the machines are getting a little tired! Greg's machine took a little bit of a dive this afternoon, so I had to jump in and start presenting on Premiere and Dynamic Link. I got as far as the beginning of my Blu-ray workflow demo (featuring none other than the music of Johnny Encore & the Acrobats) when we went to break. For the last 1.5 hours, Greg kicked off the first part (returning to the stage) and then I completed the last half hour/40 minutes (finishing blu-ray, motion menu creation, and Output-to-Flash in Encore CS3).
So, despite the computer glitches (and hey, we DON'T SCRIPT anything....and these things sometimes happen!) everything was awesome. The crowd had a good time, a good laugh, and learned some cool tips, tricks, and all about the integrated workflow technology of CS3 Master Collection.
As for our time in Singapore, I simply couldn't blog without mentioning the food, and our absolute FAVORITE spot, Newton Circus. You may have seen my 'tweets' regarding the infamous Chili Crab, Tiger Prawns & Chili Stingray. Well, if you've never been to Newton Circus, it's really something to experience. The food (which, btw, also includes the finest Bok Choy in Oyster Sauce I've ever had, along with some really incredible fried rice) is made fresh, it's hot, and it's done in an incredibly 'casual' fashion (and delivered WICKEDLY fast!). And the most amazing thing is that there are literally 100+ vendors @ the circus, all selling similar items. We've traditionally gone to one stand in particular, but sadly, that vendor has left the circus behind him. We settled on another one: stand #46; ask for Gina. She rocks.
So yeah, another great time at NC, followed (this evening) by a trip to Boat Quay and the famous jazz club, Harry's. There, we got chill with some amazing live jazz, have a few beers (Erdinger on tap! WooHoo!) and just chill out to the real deal. The cats were hot (jazz speak)..and we didn't want to leave!
A very cool shot I took of Rufus, on stage

Me, on stage, with the huge 'Adobe Masters' poster behind us

And with that, I'd just like to say thank you, Singapore. We can't wait to return!! (and I can't wait to eat some more Jumbo Tiger Prawn, Chili Stingray, Bok Choy, etc. etc.) And now, onto Kuala Lumpur...
Until next time,
Blog on.

Hi Wubing. Well, I'm sorry that we didn't get a chance to meet in person; but I guess I'm rather glad that we *didn't* attempt to snap a photo in the men's room. LOLOL! Next time, just find me on the stage! ;) Take care, and see you next time. ---JL

Thanks for the wonderful time :) Now I'm more curious to explore and learn more of the tools and integration that CS3 has to offer. Hopefully we can start picking things from your talk and use them in our workflow as well.
---
Hey Scrufus. Well, my friend, that's what it's all about...providing the inspiration, enabling you and your colleagues to broaden your use of the products, and enhance the workflow for better productivity. Great comments, mate. All the best, and hope to see you back in Sing real soon. ---JL

Hi Jason,
Was at the MasterClass yesterday and I think you guys rock!!!
And emm...no...you didn't stay in Singapore long enough to have a Diana Ross. :)
---
Hello Ranna! Glad to hear that you enjoyed the seminar. And thanks for the hair comment (re: Diana Ross). I think you're being kind, but I'll agree with you that I definitely SHOULD HAVE stayed in Singapore longer! ;) All the best. --JL

Hey Jason,
Your entry about the Singapore stop makes me laugh - I was telling my friend, that your flair for drama and humour really saved the show. Though your presentation was really in parts, I think you have helped us picture the new enhanced and much speeded up work flow with dynamic link. I got lost at times - was I seeing After Effects or Encore. And with the Key Light and Sound Booth... information overload. But I know it has definitely whet my appetite to go try out the softwares. (I have done wedding videography for friends before - it was painful with all the rendering and re-rendering...)

Hey Verily. I certainly do appreciate all the comments -- having been a musician for *many* years, 'performance art' is definitely a large part of what we do on stage; but as you pointed out, it's all in an effort to lead you to a better understanding of the products, the workflows, and to see that through our own passion, great things can be accomplished across the suites with some basic concepts and a great idea! All the best. --JL

hell-o! attended the singapore leg of your tour and it was awesome! you guys were truly inspiring. your energy and passion for your respective crafts was an amazing reminder of what lead me into design - and what will keep me going. for that, thank you ;)
---
Hey Yongsi. Wow...quite the endorsement there (ie, '...your energy and passion...a reminder of what lead me into design'). Indeed, that's what it's all about, and that sentence really crystallized what we're trying to do (in several ways). As I've said earlier, it was truly an honor. ;) Hope to see you again soon. Best regards --JL

Haha, Ya Jason next time when I see u again, will surely went up onstage to take a pic with u. I will be going HK on July 16 to 20...any cool places to recommend? Hope it is a good experience for me as well. Anyway, I was with my art director yesterday and I told her seeing the gang and you speaks really inspired me to carry myself even better, professional as a designer - hehe - :-)
---
Good stuff, Wubing. ;) As for cool places to recommend in HK, well, I wish I could remember some of the districts we visited at night. However, whether you're on Hong Kong Island or on the Kowloon side, you're simply surrounded by picturesque beauty. Add to that a little sunshine (and perhaps a Tsing Tao or two), and well, that's really all you need. ;) Take care, and good luck. --JL

Hi Jason, I totally enjoyed the Masters session yesterday. You guys are so funny and awesome! Hope to see you back in Singapore soon!
P.S. We do have other incredibly yummy food besides chilli crabs, jumbo prawns and bok choy in oyster sauce btw... =P
---
Hi there, YJ. Thanks for the great comments, and we sure do look forward to returning *very* soon. As for the food, well, you know we're just creatures of habit--and nowhere else in the world can you get the chilicrab/stingray/tigerprawn like you have it in Singapore. Nor is there anywhere like Newton C. It's truly one of favorite places! That being said, I've never had a bad meal in Sing, and we 'do' occasionally mx it up a bit. Care to recommend some other restaurants to check out? ;) All the best. --JL

Hi Jason, the Masters session on 8 July 08 is the BEST Adobe seminar i have ever attended. Thanks for bringing on a great show and loads of information. We are very very impressed and have enjoyed the session so much! Truly inspirational!! Too bad we dont have the chance to learn how to create movie trailer in AE...=( Anyway, thank you and hope to see you in Singapore again soon! Cheers!
---
Hey SY! Sincerely, thanks for the great feedback. You know, it's these great comments (from you, and your fellow attendees) that makes it all possible for us to come back and present to you in Singapore. It's such a joy and pleasure to be there, and we truly look forward to our next opportunity. Keep me posted, and hey, if you've got some questions about the trailer stuff, let me know. ;) All the best. --JL

can I know how to create several pages in Adobe Photoshop CS3?. Thx
---
Hi there, Verykeat. Are you actually referring to creating 'pages' in Fireworks CS3 for web prototyping (which Greg showcased in the morning session)?? Let me know. --JL

Hey Jason!! How're u doing? I was the dude who asked to take a photo of the 3 Masters together onstage. You guys were really awesome!! I slept only 1 hour the previous night, or rather morning, so I was expecting myself to sleep but guess what? I didn't!! Because you guys were so interesting, my eyes and ears were kept awake. Presentation was awesome. I've learnt lots of stuff from you guys and I'm really happy to have attended this seminar. Oh. And I like rufus' shirt. hahaha... and your sideburn. It's friggin sexayyyy...
Would love to see you guys back in Singapore again. Will you be here on the 15th?
---
Hey Carlsson! Glad to hear you dig the sideburns! ;) I was actually thinking of shaving them down (for a change) and going back to my slightly shorter, less Deep Purple/1972 and a bit more 1999. We'll see. Oh, and I passed your comment along to Rufus! Sadly, we won't be in Sing on the 15th, as we'll be departing for home shortly. Hope to see you again soon. ---JL
